Shackle or spring?

Something is too short here. Spring measures roughly 54" eye/eye. What went wrong?  :swear:
If I cant fix it, it's broke

In those pictures, where is the weight of the car supported, under the frame, or under the rear axle ?

Looks to me like the rear axle is just hanging down in it's lowest position... :dunno:

I'm thinking when the weight is on the springs they will go in the correct position. I remember having the same concern.  :grinyes:

Looks to me like the rear axle is just hanging down in it's lowest position... :dunno:

It (the car) is till on the rotisserie. It just seems to me that when the weight of the car is put on the springs that the shackle would continue to push up towards the front of the car.

NO...if there is no weight on the axle right now, the spring/shackles are in the correct position...they will go back as weight goes on.

You can put a small block of wood in between the frame and spring if you are concerned, i would recommend a block that is about 1-1/2" think, it will then drop out once you put the car back on wheels. :2thumbs:

One thing to check with the offset shackles is the bracket for the bumper or valance . I can't remember which one but I had to mill it some so it cleared .

What would I do without your witty help Ken?  :roflsmiley:  I actually had to do that with a 4x4 I had years ago. Jumped the truck and it landed so hard it forced the shackles backwards. Had to use a jack between the frame and the flat surface of the leaf spring just so I could drive it. Had to go about 200 miles that way.   :stomp:

My first thought is that you got A-body springs.  Did you buy SuperStock leafs?  They are 2 inches shorter than the stock/XHD springs.

I measured the springs last night and they were 57" from eye/eye following the contour of the main leaf. And
I'm fairly certain they are correct as they came off an awesome chally.  :2thumbs:
