Impulse buy, got a KwikLift

Pulling a 4spd would be a piece of cake.  I used the center bridge to jack/support the back of the engine when the Tranny was out.
As mentioned, any work under the car is easier, plenty of room to move when the car is so high.
Much better and safer than multiple jack stands or concrete blocks.

Thanks for the info....I guess I will watch craigslist for a while first...if nothing comes up I guess I know where part of my tax refund is going.

I had one of these; not a bad unit but a bit cumbersome to work around and since I have a 2 post lift I just never used it. If I were going purchase another lift, it would be something like this

I looked at those....they are nice for sure, but only 21" to the frame so it's probably at least 5"  lower than the kwiklift. I like them since the wheels are off the ground already, but I do need to be able to pull the trans and I think that would be easier on the Kwiklift.

The problem I found with the Qwik lift is that it is at a odd height for me, too high to lay flat on a creeper, too low to sit on a small stool. I am sure you could pull a trans, do exhaust, etc on one, I just found it a little awkward to use. When I had mine, I did oil changes on it mainly which worked ok. The one nice thing about them is you can put a low car on them w/o problems.

Consider a four post lift... Yes it takes up space, no you won't be able to raise it fully in your garage... However half of the space it takes will be dead space as far as car parking goes cause it's close to the side wall & typically you have 20+ inches where you store junk.. All the lift needs is two approx 12" x 12" areas over there & two between the cars but again these are at the ends where they won't interfere with opening doors.... 

Inside the garage you can probably raise the car 2.5-3 feet...

But most of these four post parking lifts come with wheels & you can roll them out on the driveway to raise the car 5.5-6 feet....

Guess it depends on you; get someone to hold a tape at the relative height and lay on a creeper and you will be able to visualize it.
