It's the orange exterior with the orange interior that give it the pumpkin look....I've owned two 71 Cudas with the H6XV interior, but both cars had white exterior :sly:

:2thumbs: Doesn't look to need much restoration work....Being it's documented and numbers matching it's certainly worthy of a full ground up resto though :2cents:

I'll try and explain this the best I can.

Chrysler kept records on options by percentages built.

By that I mean....They know that out of ALL 1971 Cudas "X" amount were painted EV2, they know out of ALL Cudas the amount that had H6XV, they know how many were 340's, how many were 4spd, etc...

What these numbers CAN NOT tell you is how many cars had the options together.

For example:

11.2% or 636 of ALL 1971 BS23/BS27 cars were painted EV2
0.6% or 34 of ALL 1971 BS23/BS27 cars were painted V02 Two tone paint (all colours)
60.6% or 3439 of ALL 1971 BS23/BS27 cars were 340 cars

But what you CAN NOT do is cross reference the options....Like you can not assume that 11.2% of the 60.6% were orange 340 cars.....Does that make sense ?

Unfortunately the records I have do not include a break down for H6XV....

Galen Govier has the most extensive registry for all Chrysler cars.

When people have their cars decoded by Galen he would give them numbers of combinations KNOWN to exist. That means out of all the 1971 Cudas in his registry if he only has three EV2 Cudas with H6XV interior, then he would tell you you have 1 of 3......

The mistake comes when people take that information and think that there were only three built, which is clearly not the case. It means that only three cars like that were registered with GTS.

When you start breaking cars down by options nearly all of our beloved Mopars are truly One of One's  :2thumbs:

Galen doesn't respond to any request. I talked to his assistant last year. I gave her my  VIN and never heard back.

YES...I forgot to mention that, he's pretty much "out-of-the-business" I believe.

There are other smaller registries that can offer the same type service.

Correct me if I am wrong but didn't Galen get caught doing some less than questionable stuff at an auction a few years ago? :dunno:

We used to have an H5XV and H6XV thread on here, but I think it disappeared.  There weren't very many pics, and only a few board members with orange cars with orange interiors.  Mine is not originally an orange interior car.
