Viper v10 6spd swap, anybody done one?
« on: February 12, 2014 - 10:37:35 AM »
I have the opportunity to buy a gen 2 viper v10 with 6500 miles on it and the matching 6spd from a 01 viper, it's an absolute steal, so I need some input, are there any kits for this swap?  Or will it be a home febrication nightmare.  Obviously if anyone has done this I would love to hear the first hand experience, but anyone with helpful info would be appreciated!  Thanks guys!

There is someone on protouringmopar.com doing a viper engine in a Dodge Dart. He has a great detailed build thread so far. From what I have seen cutting the firewall out is the only option so far . http://www.protouringmopar.com/showthread.php?19-Project-SCUD-69-Dart

I've seen articles about one swapped into a second gen (68 I believe) charger, more than one if I recall correctly.

Is it a motor mount location issue?

I'll have to check out the dart thread.

Biggest issue is the overall length of the motor, it's basically a 5.9 +2 cylinders in terms of size, just so dang long the firewall has to be moved

Yep, long freaking block and the firewall will have to go....

I have seen more than one personally . Its a big undertaking . If you have great fabrication skills . I one I have seen had custom headers and custom k frame with a front motor plate as well and the floor was completely removed as well as the fire wall . Really it reminded me of an 80's pro street car at the end of it all .

Wow that's cool! Well done! I wonder what the handling is like? I'm guessing the motor is pretty heavy?

I think the viper v10 weight close to the same as a stock big block if I remember correctly.
