I am a new member on this forum. started a resto on my 73 cuda. just wondering what I should picture and record for future look backs. motor has been pulled, and engine compartment is going in for paint. step 1.

Any and all fasteners and their locations. Any thing held in with bolts that way you don't have to remember which way it goes

Take thousands of pics. Everyone will help eventually.

 I like to take a video before each dismantling session.  Walk around the car and the area of work. it helps later.

How well does that work for all the items the prior owner(s) did incorrectly over the years? I tried the many picture route but have had to heavily supplement the factory manual as there are different bolts, missing washers, on each side of the car fairly often. I've been bagging and tagging and when I need to put anything back I review the manual, order correct missing bolts / washers (not OEM but just matching), assemble, rinse, repeat......

Especially for me. My car was blasted by a few owners ago and its completely disassembled luckily I have a few others at the house to look at once I start putting it together. I need fasteners though like a whole cars worth

My first purchase was the service manuals. Also take a a photo inventory of everything you have to determine what you may need or want to restore.  I also did a video of all areas to repair like what was done by a previous owners and other areas to correct.
