do car dealerships still do this?
« on: February 16, 2014 - 04:31:40 AM »
I have bought quite a few new cars over the last 40 years, but I don't recall getting a thank letter from any of them.  Just thought I'd share this.

My sales person mailed me this "thank you" card after I bought my brand new '73 Cuda.

he included a few of his business cards

plus a bumper sticker

That's awesome!  Better than anything I've gotten for any of my new mopar purchases.  My parents got a bottle of champagne engraved with the purchase date when they bought their 5 series BMW, but that was back in 04, and they did not get one when they bought their second one in 07 lol.

We bought a used Toyota Avalon a few years ago and received a letter within a month, a phone call from the salesman a few months later to make sure everything was OK, another letter after about 6 months and another call from the salesman at a year.  This may seem like a lot of nuisance, but the calls were just quick, pleasant "Hello,I hope everything is alright with your car, is there anything I can do for you?"

The service from this dealership has been fantastic in all regards.  :clapping:
It certainly works, when I buy another car I will certainly put them at the top of my list.

When I bought my 1990 W250 new, I got a thank you letter from the salesman and the dealer owner within a week, along with a 1990-1991 calendar with me, my friends, and the salesman in front of the truck in the dealer lot.  Then a followup letter about 2 months later.

When we bought the Jeep Liberty in 2002 we got a followup letter from the dealer (Carmax) that included a handwritten note from our saleslady.

My wife only remembers getting the boilerplate corporate followups from our purchase of her 2006 Mini Cooper S.

The salesman I bought my last 4 trucks and Charger from has always sent me and the wife birthday and Christmas cards. He just retired this past summer and I quit getting the cards. He was an old school type salesman.

The 3 last new cars I bought in the last 12 years I only got notice's 3 years later offering to trade up.
When I bought my Aussie Valiant Pacer new back in '71 a few weeks later I got a letter from Chrysler Australia but it really seemed to be a form letter.

I've only bought one brand new vehicle in my life. A few months later I got a recall notice about the brake accumulator needing to be replaced. lol.

Our local Dodge dealer does them also We still get then and birthday cards. The only problem when we get the letters is says, Thank You for buying a Charger. Last I checked I think we bought a Challenger.  :roflsmiley:
