the gentleman that passed. was dating my wifes aunt. so landing the car was not that hard. she mentioned that she had some guy look at the cuda . I was like aw man then the guy said that she wanted too much . so I said ill take it. as I was there looking at car same guy called and said he changed his mind. I told her to late ill take it. the getelman that owned it said it was his first mopar he has or had over 27 corevettes two 41 whilly pick up trucks one ranked 7th in the nation. 2 amc gremlins. 32 ford five window. and many more. joe was a true car guy. to bad he was just getting into mopars at the end. I don't know if I paid too muck but I got it for $35,000. she wanted 40,000
most of the interior is new body is beautiful motor1966 chrysler 426 hemi redone figure that's $16,000, tubular front end is like $3500 all new glass, seals, lights, grill, gills, mirrors, gauges, spoiler, so I feel I got a good deal .and if I dint plz don't tell my wife  :}  sry about spelling.

He really was a car guy wasn't he? So Joe had more than 27 Corvettes in his lifetime? Funny with that many Vettes wonder why he decided to go Mopar? Those Vette guys are as loyal to the breed as Mopar guys are. Hmmm?

Interesting that you said he was "dating" your wife's aunt, but she wound up with the car and legal right to sell it (lucky for you). Joe must of really liked your wife's aunt and arranged for her to have it. All to often cars and stuff get hung up in probate as potential heirs wrangle for things left behind by the deceased and it drags on and often gets ugly.

$35K? Seems like it is almost all there and all you have to do is assemble it. Considering that nice HemiCuda clones are going for more than double what you paid for it I would say that you got a pretty good deal. If Joe had been dating my wife's aunt I would have jumped on that too!

Thanks for sharing and I'm subscribing to this thread so I can follow your progress in putting the car together. With any luck you will be on the road with that beast by summer. Keep us posted.

joe got pissed at the corevette clubs. joe liked to take his cars apart and replace all the bolts with stainless corvette guys frown on that so he said screw that. he put the cuda in her name or it would all be going through the estate. lucky me I figured it would be worth close to double if done right.

Joe sounds like he was a pretty meticulous car guy. I would assume that continued with the his planned build for the HemiCuda. All the body work, paint, pieces and parts were probably done to Joe's meticulous standards. Sounds like you are going to have a super-sweet HemiCuda when you get it all back together. Looking forward to the reassembly and remember  :useless:  we want to see pics ... lots of them!

ok weather nice for a change got the car home today yeah.. so I figured I would tinker on it a bit figured door handles would be a good start so  I can open doors . new door handles new door locks no screws or nut with door handles locks look like same ones on yearone for 71 ebody but the book shows different spacer  damn. so ok lets look at side markers lights maybe tinker with them new in box not painted to body color damn.. so gave up yesterday came inside and got some good points and laughs off of here yes anlauto you are smart lol :rofl:

Those definitely look about 1/2" too long to me and may hit/scratch the bubble

I suggest that you tape off the surrounding area and just carefully cut each stud down and leave around 2 to 3 threads on each stud. Take your time doing this and be careful. Remember to tape up anywhere you do not want sparks to damage paint and glass when carrying out this procedure, the safest tool I could recommend to do this is by using a air tool cut off wheel of some kind, like a die grinder with cut off or even a dremel. :2thumbs:

so today im swapping the centerline rims and tires that came on the car 50's on the rear and 80's on the front though a very aggressive look not very practical in my book for a set of ralleys 60's for the rear and 70's for the front .

Wikipedia - Some cars made prior to about 1960 used left-hand and right-hand screw thread for different sides of the vehicle to prevent loosening. It was later realized that the taper seat performed the same function. Modern vehicles use right-hand threads on all wheels.

You shouldn't have left-hand studs on your 71 Cuda. They were phazed out in 1970...
