Electronic Ignition

Still new to the site and have learned a lot. One thing I am trying to find out, when did the change from points to electronic ignition take place. Was it at the begining of the 1971 production cars or was it phased in. Thanks

Thanks Alan! I have a 71 RT 340 car that was the 814 car off the Hamtrack line in Aug of 1970 and trying to find some background on the thing. I got it w/o mtr or tranny, but still a neat car.  Still has the original door tag and the fender tag is somewhere in a box. I was going to think about selling the project car, but it was probably built the same day as my Gran Coupe.

Here is one for you guys to ponder, on the VIN code tag, the guy who programmed the tag, must have been blind, as where the one is supposed to be, it has an "I" instead.

I should share that with Barry, but I am still so new here and trying to find out all the little things about the site in general.

What with the BBs.   I could have swore that my original '70 'Cuda (383) had an electronic ignition, but my current '70 (440) came with points.

No 70 Motors would have had electronic ignition not even an option
