I'm seriously considering a Rev-n-nator for my 340 Cuda, but just not sure how much benefit I would get from it.  My engine is pretty stock with a mild cam, 9.5:1 pistons, 6 bbl. carbs, factory exhaust manifolds.  Seems like the big power increases are coming from engines that are built a bit more and at higher RPM's (above 4,000).  The HP and torque curves I've seen match pretty close to MP orange boxes down at the lower RPM range, unless things have changed.  The rev. limiter is a very nice feature, though.

Your exhaust system may be significantly hurting your power output.  Headers and 2.5 inch duals
would be a big difference.  If you have the stock exhaust tips, they limit flow to about 175 cfm each,
which is very limiting. But, you may also want to maintain originality.

Yes, I do want to maintain the original look.  With that kind of flow restriction do you think I'd see any noticeable improvement with the Rev-n-nator (stock coil with MP orange box)?

First off, I highly doubt it will boost your HP that much - sounds like snake oil.

As for the mounting of the ECS in the engine compartment, mounting it to the rear valley pan rail would seem like a pain to me. I have seen some really nice compartments done with the electronics stored under the battery tray.

I am guessing that it will not produce any more hp than any other properly functioning modern ignition system

Can't give you any numbers on horsepower yet but my rev limiter is definately working. When it was installed we thought there was something wrong with it until we realized the limiter was set to 1000 rpm. Reset it to 6000 rpm and  :burnout:

the website says the rev limits are adjustable only between 3k-7k how did you get yours set to 1k?  :clueless:

The rev limiter has 7 different rpm limits, from 3,000 rpm test to 7,500 rpm. It can easily be changed by the touch of a button with easy-to-see LED lights. The LEDs also function as a digital tachometer.

I'm not sure how it got limited to 1k. I took it out and any time I hit the accelerator it would drop off engine speed around 1k until I turned the Rev-N-Ator up to where the lights showed a 6k limit. When I played with it I found that the limiter was as far down as it could be set. I think the low end limit should be 3k. I don't know why mine was dropping out so quickly.

Have you got yours installed yet?  If so, what's your thoughts?

My Rev-N-Nator quit working today.  Tried to start the engine and it would not start.  Didn't take long to figure out the Rev-N-Nator stopped working.  The only thing I did was unplug the battery over winter to keep it from discharging.  Plugged the battery back in and the Rev-N-Nator was not working.  Went and got a cheap $20 Napa ECU and it fired right up.  I have contacted Rev-N-Nator and I will let you know what they say, but for $200 I was hoping it would last longer then the 3 to 4 hours in the last year I've used it.

I just got my new REV-N-NATOR in the mail.

Anybody try one of these yet? They make some pretty strong claims of HP improvement.... :dunno:

It will be awhile before I get this in my customer's car... :burnout:

Put mine on a few weeks ago but haven't had the car out for a run yet. It does start better than ever but we made some other adjustments also. Not sure what made the difference but so far I love the way it starts now. Will carry the old ECU as a spare just in case. Let us know what you find out.

That's the first thing I noticed when I put the cheap box in.  Even though the cheap box fired right up, it fired up a little slower and when warm it took MUCH MUCH MUCH longer to start up.  Didn't run as good either with the cheap box.  Being this ECU was the only change that was made I have to think there might be some truth to the claim Rev-N-Nator makes about HP.  I'll update you guys once I talk to Rev-N-Nator.

I was looking at getting a couple of these myself, but definitely want to hear how they stand behind a defective product first.  Plus, I hope this isn't a common problem, at $200 it better last longer than I will!
