NYC - Places to See

My wife and I are taking our daughter to NYC this weekend for a karate tournament.  We are staying in Queens.

It looks like we will have most of Saturday free to explore the city.

Other than the obvious, Statue of Liberty and Empire State Building, any tips on places to see while we are there?  Does not have to be car related, but that would be cool too!

Well darn, I just found out yesterday that I'm headed up there to see Murray (Blown Motor). Was hoping
to maybe see others as well. Good luck to your daughter in the tournament and maybe we'll see ya next time. I
still want to get up to see Brads70 too.

Go down to ground zero and check out all the memorials,  go to Times Square and check out the Toy-r-us....

I love NYC but if you only have one day you won;t see much. Waiting for the statue of liberty takes forever as does going up the empire state building.

I walked from Battery Park up to Central park and went in all sorts of stores and stuff I liked after that I enjoyed a cigar at Strawberry Fields.

for ground zero we had to get tickets in advance last summer    stayed right on times square and the sights there were interesting to say the least but the weather was 70 degrees warmer then, if you end up there look for naked cowboy and girl,   bronze man and all the other ppl

We also went at the end of July for my wife's birthday. We stayed in Times Square as well....We could not believe our eyes...being "small town CDNs" we were shocked at the street life

We saw the Cowboy you mentioned and this pair of completely naked women being painted on the street.....

I was wondering about that "naked cowboy" and then I saw the pic. That's the way he looked when we were there. The Chrysler building is neat and you should blow the wad and go to Katz's Deli. 4-5 years ago a corned beef sami was $14, but it WAS 2" thick and this is the joint they filmed in Harry meets Sally, a Woody Allen flic. Chinatown runs into Little Italy and DUMBO is a happening area. You'd best wear good shoes! Enjoy!

All the people on times square dressed in different costumes and themes are interesting, theres even some neat street artists that do street scene painting with spray cans of rustoleum and krylon,   and there all looking to make a buck off the tourists

Looks like naked cowboy finally laid off the steroids lol he used be 30-40 lbs of muscle heavier

It's not typically what one thinks of as "New York," but the Cloisters, in northwestern Manhattan, is a beautiful place.

The Museums are all good. Some of the best ancient Egyptian material in the world.

Central Park is huge and free.

Battery Park gives you a nice view of the Brooklyn Bridge, and is close to South Street Seaport Museum.
