Signing in from Colorado
« on: March 02, 2014 - 09:35:37 PM »
I'm adding my name to the list of Challenger fans.  Way back when in the last century I owned a 1972 Challenger Rallye. Had to sell it when I headed off to college in 74. So fast forward 40 years and I decided to do it again. Brought home a 1972 Rallye. Has a mildly built 340, 727 auto and supposed to be a 4:10 rear. The car runs but will take some work to get back up to standard. I've tried to attach a couple of pictures. One of the obviously new purchase and another from a different era. Hopefully they are sized correctly.

Thats a nice looking car. Shouldn't take too much to finish it up the way you like.

Dude, awesome car. Judging from the pictures it doesn't look like it needs a thing. Welcome!

It's great to see you found another '72 to have fun with.  What's on the drawing board for your challenger?  And welcome to the forum!

I live in Castle Rock, Colorado. I've been following this site for about a year now and found it to be an invaluable source of information. A lot of good stuff here.

The car is in pretty decent shape. The brakes need serious attention first. The car also came with a holley 750 dp and a proform body with no choke. Not so good in cooler temps here in Colorado. I just got shipped in a regular Holley street carburator. The whole floor plan had been replaced and is in good condition but I need to look a little closer at the trunk. No air/heat at this point as it needs to be completely redone since most of the air conditioning components are gone. Also missing windshield washer fluid tank and pump. The paint needs help actually if you see it up close in the sun. I knew all that going in but I'm glad to have a project like this to work on.

After the brakes, I'll make sure the rest of the underside is in good condition and then do some of the Hotchkiss suspension upgrades followed by rebuilding the air conditioning system. New exhaust system also. Then the instrument cluster needs a bit of work as well as the radio. then . . . . .  .

Neat...If you get around to re-painting the car, you should do it in the same blue as your original 72  :2thumbs:
