The Saddle Ridge Gold Coins Mystery

You may recall the story in Show us your Pets, I mentioned about the couple that found $10 million dollars in $20.00 Dollar Gold coins dating back to the late 1800's to early 1900's.

Apparently, the State of CA is claiming the couple who found them aren't entitled to them.
Because some guy back then, working at the S.F. Mint was sneaking them out and that's the loot they found ...over a 100 years later. They suspect that because one coin doesn't have the words..."In God We Trust"

Is that unfair to the couple?
Or is the state entitled to re claiming them is this holds true?

Story:  These people took their dog for a walk.
Not very far away from me and found $10 million dollars in rare gold coins.

I knew this was going to happen. You can't just expect to find something like that and call it yours. The government has a responsibility to find out if it's stolen or not.

What! California is trying to take some poor citizen's money.  I'm shocked!   

I don't believe the State can really prove, after 100 years, that those exact coins belong to them, but I think there is a good chance that California will end up taking the coins.

There's mixed stories on this.

Some say that they will get the hoard.

Others say no.

It isn't the first time this has happened.

Boullion off of Florida and off of spain have had similiar incidences where the Gov't intervened.

Whatever the outcome, I think they should at least get a 10% finders fee, or something like that.

It's a good thing they live in the US that money in canada wouldn't even pay the shipping on an alternator.

In ottawa quite a few years back someone managed to get quite a bit of gold from the bottom of the river as a result of from the runoff from the Mint and the gov tried to claw it back saying all sorts of stuff. I'm a big beleiver in finders keepers. They had already accounted for the loss let some poor dude win for once.
