340 EFI upgrade and TCI 6x autotrans
« on: March 04, 2014 - 11:02:10 PM »
I'm in the very slow process of taking my 73 Cuda down to the skeleton, but I want to get my ducks in a row so that I'm not waiting on critical components.

Does anyone have any driving experience with either of these compenents with a 340? Would anyone have suggestions as to a sturdy rear for this drivetrain? Heads?

I have a 360...  340's kissing cousin... I've been running the FAST EZ EFI throttlebody system for a year now and I really like it.  Easy install, self learning but customizable, better fuel economy, no cold starts anymore...  all around a good investment especially if you like long haul driving.

I have the version one model and hear the version two's are having problems...  version ones are still available as far as I know.

Good luck with what you choose.

360fish, can I ask what you did for the fuel pump?

I just put in an Edelbrock 3607 EFI Sump Kit .  Replaced the Walbro pump I had mounted external to the fuel tank.  No more noise from the "quiet" pump...  I highly recommend it.

Thanks for the feedback.

EFI conversions are becoming more commonplace ... but it is still hard to find folks that have actually done it.

I'll look into your recommendation as well as keeping an eye out for anyone with feedback on the pro-flo efi.

As for the 6x auto from TCI ... I think I'm sold.

I met up with a guy just south of Chicago today who put one of these behind a 427 "Yenko" bastard. Just a guy that crammed a 427 into a 71 Camaro and then decided to supercharge it ... and then settled on the 6x because he didn't want to chop up his tunnel to fit a t56.

I was more than impressed .... I'm still trying to unclench.

Thanks, that's exactly what I am going to do. Where did you mount the pump? Also, I was told by FAST that their system needs to have a returen fuel line and I thought the Edelbrock Sump did not have one.

I found your posting with pics of the sump install. I like it.
