    Ok since I have a Keisler auto set up let me chime in. The kit when I bought it was around 3200.00
    I had one of there first kits to hit the streets, back in 2006
    Since then I racked up 13k miles on it and really amazed how well it's held up
    Recently I added more power and wanted to upgrade the Trans but wasn't sure on who to go to
    After researching I ended up going with Greg at Pheonix transmissions
    He knew the Keisler Trans well as his unit was the prototype when Keisler introduced it
    Later they out sourced it to a Local Trans dealer to keep the profit margins high
    Needless to say the new Trans has been spot on perfect with the new convertor
    I still have my Keisler Trans but swapped over all the parts (bell housing tail shaft and reluctor ring/ speedo gear
    QuickTime makes a bell housing however I'm not sure on the tail shaft
    The tail is a Gm piece that's had a bung welded in for the speedo gear
    The controller was a pcs and harness
    Shift cables and other stuff was off the shelf items
    The truth is Keisler did a lot of figuring out to make this a kit
    And will be missed. Pm me if you need more info

    So... i still have no reply from american powertrain about theyr 4L60E Transmission Kit. I am curious about the offer from them.

    Beside this i think about a manual 5 Speed Transmission swap (TKO600). But at this moment i would go with a automatic transmission.

    Wait...why don't you want to use the 518?  My understanding is that it is essentially a bolt in deal, with the exception of the bell housing.

    At the end of the day you will have a 4 speed auto (w/ OD) using the factory shifter and a switch for OD.  Should feel like a factory trans...because it is!! 

    That is certainly my plan in the next year.

    First, i still have no reply from American Powertrain. Are they still in buiseness???

    I dont like to shift a Overdrive "by button". If this would be interesting for me i can go with a GV also. If i do e swap like this i want so clean as possible, where i can shift from 1 to 4 by leaver.
    Beside this the 4L60E can be shiftet manualy and shifting points are programmable.

    Certainly valid points...but, I am pretty sure you can set up the overdrive to come on with out a manual switch, I believe it works of a vacuum switch mounted on the trans.  Might take some extra work and to trial and error, but I think it can be done.  The upside here is that you can use the factory 3 speed shifter, and overdrive come on automatically.  So you end up with a very clean install.

    Someone please correct me if I am wrong here???

    I've been researching this myself.  There are places that have figured out how to use pressure switches to control the O.D. automatically.  This is a much better setup so you don't have to keep switching the O.D. on and off.

    It's really a preference thing...  I like having control of mine via the switch on the T-Handle...  there are times I don't want to flip into OD around town.  Of course you can easily create a cutoff switch to turn off the pressure switches when you want to...  :)    :cooldancing:

    Is there a version of the 518 that has a lockup torque convertor?  I like that feature on my 4L60  :2cents:

    If a higher stall convertor is available as well, I'd suggest going that route.

    Just got word today that J.W. has indefinitely back ordered their conversion bell housing. This after waiting 7 months.
    I cant wait any longer, gotta go back to using the 727 I guess.
