New Cuda owner-need repair help
« on: March 05, 2014 - 01:44:48 PM »
HI all-

I just bought a 68 /6 coupe that has been sitting in a garage since 2001. The fuel tank is rotted out but still holding a full tank!

Anyway I want to replace it and I saw a nice site for obtaining a new fuel tank but I don't know all the accessory parts I need nor the other things I need to replace to get this beauty on the rode.

Any assistant, links to relevant threads etc would be highly appreciated. I will post photos once she is road worthy, and then more once I get the cash for the restore.

Thanks folks.

Personally I would replace the tank, fuel sending unit, tank straps, and main fuel line for starters. All parts are easily available in reproduction. :2cents:

Welcome to the site.

Years ago, I noticed that there was a heavy gas smell whenever I filled the tank. I did a little invetigation and found that a leak near the top of the tank was peeing right onto my exhaust. Probably would never hurt a think, but I didn't feel safe, so I replaced the tank.

"usraptr" = United States raptor - bird of prey = United States Bald Eagle.  FYI, somebody else thought of it first so I had to drop the "O" in raptor.
