Can someone with the Hotchkis rear springs give me a measurement from the ground to the bottom of the wheel well arch?  I know tire size will play a factor....I am going with 275-50-17 but Im not sure how far tucked up into the wheel well they will make the tires....if that makes sense.....might go with the 275-40-17 which is a few inches shorter.....going to buy my tires and wheels soon but want to make sure ....thanks

seems like mine is a little over 24" but I may be wrong.  If you go down toward the bottom of this page  http://www.vortexbuicks-etc.com/Challengerrebuild.htm    you will see a pic showing a side view.   I forget the size of this tires but the junk wheels are 14"

I am looking at the same size as you and believe they will look pretty similar to the way it looks now.  I would prefer another inch on the tire diameter but if available, it would only change the ride height a half inch....pretty sure the tires on there now are 26" tall

Thanks...Im afraid the drop will hide the wheel...if that makes since....I dont mind the tucked in look of hiding some of the tire but dont want it do go so low the rim starts to hide in the quarter......I also worry with some hard driving the tire might push up into the wheel wells :dunno:

How do you like the Hotchkis springs?  Worth the money??  Im torn over them or the xhd

Don't think it will look much different than mine. I will measure tomorrow.

Okay, went out to the shop and did some measuring.

First, the car has 245/60-14's on the rear.  That computes to 25.6" diameter-essentially the same as 275/40-17 which computes to 25.7"

The distance from the fender lip is 23.5".  Might rise a tenth if I checked the air pressure in the tires which I have not done in several months.

As it sits, the top of the rim is approximately 4.25" below the fender lip.

When I go to 17" wheels, that should make the top of the rim approximately 2.75" below the fender lip which I would deem perfect for my tastes.  I hate the Hi-Jacker look and I went to the the Hotchkiss springs because of the better geometry that should give better handling.

In reality, I think it will come somewhere between 72bluNblu's car and that of cudaragtop...both shown here   http://www.cuda-challenger.com/cc/index.php?topic=97897.0   that would make me very happy :)

the 275/50's are a couple of inches taller...you can draw a picture and figure that out...would raise the lip about and inch from my numbers :)

Thanks Steve .....that was exactly what I wanted to know!!  I am ordering the tires and wheels right now..will post some pics in that thread when I get them....I think the 275-50-17 on the rear will look smoking hott...the hotchkis springs and shocks will have to wait a few months but are definitely on the to do list before it hits the road!!  Have to get the motor in the car, front end redone and the brakes sorted out...but at least she will look good sitting in my garage on her new shoes :bigshades:

I agree...I keep looking at that 275/50s myself....as we get in the lower profiles, we get less choices and wheel width becomes more of an issue...not as easy as it once was....good luck!
