Greg?  :clueless:

Oh, now I get it.  I thought you were wondering who Greg was but more so you were wondering how someone else was in front of you as far as the car sale was concerned.

Yeah, so what's the deal?  :clueless:  I thought quapman sent a PM?  :clueless:

Something stinks ... I offered 4000 and he ended up turning it down because I needed him to transfer ownership to himself for transport to canada.  WTF. Very frustrating

No. I am close, but this was for a father son project with my 15 year old. We made a deal that we will do a e- body project together when school responsibilities are met. Not there yet. Can't reward mediocrity.

WOW looks like I have to jump in here and defend myself!  :scared:

First off, yes, I went and bought the car.  I meant no disrespect to Schtick or Quapman.  Here's how it went down:

13'th Ad went up.  Schtick showed interest.

15th, Quapman and I showed interest.  I made the statement "if schtick or quapman don't snag it I'd like to come take a look at it"

16th, Quapman and I asked for second round of pics.

17th, Second round of pics went up.  I sent a PM stating interest and asking to come look at the car.  Phone call confirmed multiple lowball offers and one offer from Canada (twalker?) but not sold.  I asked to come see it a couple days out, but understood no promises and it could sell in the meantime.

18th, nothing.

19th, I took a 2 1/2 hr ride to look at a car I wasn't sure I wanted.  After speaking with the guy, hearing stories about the previous owner and test driving the car I decided I wanted it.  I offered to leave a deposit and return with the full amount later, or simply wait until I had all the money.  The seller Jeff stated with all the lowball offers he's been getting he would just take my deposit and be done with it.

19th, Quapman stated he wants to look at the car and is advised it is on deposit.

From the time Quapman and I showed interest to the time I put down the deposit was four days.  Jeff stated he wanted a quick sale.  During those four days MANY people contacted Jeff about the car (I believe most from this site).  I was the only one foolish enough to publicize my interest and add the phrase "if schtick or quapman don't snag it I'd like to come take a look at it" therefore people now seem to be upset with me.  However, if I had waited until schtick, Quapman and the rest of the queue had worked it's way down to me, the car would have been long gone to one of the many mystery people who contacted Jeff. (twalker?)

I am not a flipper, you won't see this car for sale again in a month, or a year.  I intend on keeping it. (Barring unforseen catastrophe)  I'm not using the car to make a quick buck.  I'm not cutting it up for parts, or putting a monster Hemi in it or making a race car.  The gentleman who owned it since new kept reasonably good care of it and I plan on continuing it.

I don't know if that makes anyone feel any better about it, but my conscience is clean.  There was nothing fishy, no back room deals etc.  Cars like this don't wait around forever.  In my opinion if you're truly on the hunt you have to be ready to roll.  I waited four days before making a move and anyone could have jumped in during that time. (several did!)  My apologies to schtick, Quapman and I guess twalker.

You know what....regardless of who "emailed" who, or who "contacted" who first....
The car goes to the first person that puts cash in hand in my opinion.

If any of you guys were serious, in today's world it's quite simple to send a deposit electronically if not in person. It's a $4000 dollar car, you could easily send the guy $500 if you're worried about losing the deal.

The guy that got the deal...drove down and put cash in his hand, why should anybody feel any resentment towards him ? Anybody could have did the same.
I've taught you everything you know.....but I haven't taught you everything I know !

Greg,  Sorry, didn't mean to make you look like the bad guy. That's the problem with selling on a forum, people don't see all of the pm's in the background. I guess the only thing that may have improved the communication would be if Jeff had contacted Steve
as soon as the pictures were sent. Then yes, Steve would have to poo or get off the pot. Alan is right, a buyer has
to be ready to move immediately if they want the car. 48 hrs' is definitely plenty of time for you to wait as you did.
Hopefully we'll get to see pic's of your beauty soon.   :2thumbs:

Heck, I'm still waiting for Quapman to call me about an Autogrip and that's only been 3 1/2 years now.  :stirpot:
It's all good, I finally bought a Gunslinger. Though I like the looks of Steve's better.

Well, silly me, I was waiting for schtick to **** or get off and was waiting on pics for a couple days. I hit "see replies to your posts" with no results and went back to the original thread to finally see the new pics. I have no clue what schtick was talking about concerning his son and I really don't give two ****s.

Most people are poky with pictures (myself included), so I was trying to be patient. As soon as I saw them, I sent the PM that I was ready to go, no lowball bull****. How do you want payment? When someone says "if so-and-so and so-and-so don't buy, I will", I kind of hope that they will show the same courtesy and patience, but obviously my values are different than most.

I didn't say I wanted to "look at the car". I was ready to BUY IT. SEND MONEY. GET THE DEAL DONE. Don't put words in my mouth, jackoff.

Of course you have a clear conscience. You're a typical hypochristian. Go **** yourself.

No worries JHC, I'm over it.

Alan - I called Greg minutes after the underneath pictures went up and made him the offer and told him I'd wire the money.  Then he decided not to deal with someone on canada.  Oh well, more fish in the sea.
