A Great Pair!
« on: March 13, 2014 - 03:40:59 PM »
New member here thought this might be interesting story.

The picture is the first time we ever brought them both out-our matching Alpine white, black vinyl top 70 Superbird (unrestored) and 70 AAR Cuda (matching numbers). Louisville car show in February. 700 cars of which only 12 were Mopars.

We counted-there were more blue 66 Chevelles then Mopars, more 57 Chevy's than Mopars, more Mustangs of all years than Mopars and more 65 Vettes than Mopars.

The Bird draws more crowd than any car at the show-we were asked to be moved from one of the show cars, and the Cuda is meticulously detailed but we won no awards, prizes, honorable mentions or anything else-they all went to the Chevelles Looking for another show this summer! The Superbird had local TV coverage on one channel, and the AAR on another channel.

Sweet looking cars!!  Why is it the Chevelle's get all the attention yet are a dime a dozen and parts cost 1/3 the price of Mopars?

I'm personally drawn to 1st and 2nd Gen TAs and Camaros ... and then GM G bodies, but for purely sentimental reasons. Mopars have always been the black sheep of car shows because people know what to instinctually fear.

If it isn't dressed up as the General Lee ... they stay away. I mean look at the names of Mopars. Demon, Dart, Duster, Barracuda, Challenger, Charger ... all aggressive names ... and most people are pansies.

HAHAHAHA  :clapping:

I also had sentiments for 66 chevelle when young, but, 1969 vitamin C 440 Roadrunner [post car] converted me on 1st try. Smoked all big block chevy and fords a few years in early 70's . hehe   :burnout:
yep, the best cars in all shows I  have seen were rare mopars . Yep, the made everyday car won awards instead. Always been that way.
When the mopars always win is [Mopar against the world] events at race track!!!  :stirpot:

Do away with the Danica sign............
Just because Petty made a dumb statement/

My   :2cents:  is that most non owners cannot afford a MOpar so they go for the cheap
stangs and cheby's and hang around drooling on the dime a dozen cheby's and stangs.

Thanks for the nice comments guys. Here is the Cuda by itself.

Question for you experts-the AAR is numbers matching but the dash electrical wiring is shot, but original. Few of the gauges work anymore and neither does the Am/FM original radio. WOuld you leave it unrestored as is or restore the dash harness.

I have installed new wiring harnesses from Year 1 and Classic so that doesn't bother me, it's the question of whether to get rid of original crap or working new wires. The care has been repainted so I can't go with the survivor route.

Thanks again
Bob

Well, by the #'s, welcome to the site, bring on Danica (she can sit on my hood any day) and why not rewire the old gal and actually be able to drive it? Just my  :2cents: oh, and as for the Chevelles- don't sweat the small stuff.

 :iagree:

Not a survivor so don't see any reason to suffer with the worn out wiring
