I have a 74 as well and I have a few questions about your car.

Argent/ silver rear panel - was every challenger like this? I have seen way more black ones as is mine just wondering whats going on there? I thought they were all black?

Would you be willing to take a few more pictures of your engine bay? I am trying to get my back to looking fairly stock I am just wondering what stickers/ decals I need and where they are located along with where some of the wires ran. I'd be extatic if you could take a few more pictures for me to reference!

No problem, I'll be happy to take additional photos of the engine bay for you and post them here. On the Argent painted panel from what I've got in literature I got from Daimler Chrysler Historical Collection, some factory photos and restored cars I've seen in person, the rear panel is supposed to be argent silver.  I've seen others with the black panel also, but the car has at one time been repainted.
I do have the build sheet for it.  I found 2 of them, one under the drivers seat that was in many pieces, and one under the back seat that is as new.

Great looking car!  Does it have the original fuel pump?  If so, is it natural or painted engine color?

The shifter handle in the car is the wrong one.  It should have a "T" handle.  They are pretty cheaply made and break easily.  I think repops are available.

As far as the tail panel is concerned...ALL 73-74 Challengers had the argent tail panel with black organisol around the tail light lenses.  72 is the ONLY year that is different.  In 72, the standard Challenger received the argent tail panel just like ALL 73-74's.  The 72 Rallye Challengers got the black tail panels with argent around the tail light lenses.

I think to change from a T shift handle to the round knob style shifter, you'd not only have to change to handle, but would also have to change the whole shifter assembly.  The booklet I'm looking at while I type this note shows the round button shifter knob, and I got the booklet directly from Chrysler.  The booklet is a black and white manual called "1974 Challenger illustrated facts and feature manual".

I get this all the time at car shows from mopar guys - my shifter is wrong, it likely is but it looks way better.

74 E Bodies got the round shifter knob same as the 70's "T" Handle was 1971-73 only.

That 74 also appears to be a Rallye with an agrent tail panel.

Yes, it was just a package in 73 and 74...not a separate model.  72 is the only year that had a black tail panel available.

Keep going what else is specific to 74 challengers? I know about the rad and fan shroud....

74 ONLY items that I know of...

retractable shoulder belts for front seats(one year only rear interior panels)
larger front/rear bumper guards
one year only rear bumper mounting brackets/bumper reinforcement
special exhaust hangers on 360 cars(use the same bracket mounted to the shock x-member on both sides...73 used the same bracket but just on the PS)
coolant recovery bottle
360 replaced the 340

As far as the decals go, I looked back in one of the old Mopar Collector Guide magazines I've got, and there is a Company called ECS Automotive ( www.ECSAutomotive.com) and they have decal packages available.

No worries just don't forget about me! Your photos will be extremely valuable to my research about how these cars left the factory. I'm going for a stock appearing look as the car is currently purple.
