Spacers to raise seat height on side ?
« on: March 17, 2014 - 09:42:20 PM »
My 70 Cuda has a 4speed. I had the seats re-upholstered partially because I felt like whoever had driven it before spent too much time leaning to the right for the shifter. Now that everything is like new, it still feels that way. Was there spacers placed under the right side bucket seat bottom rail ? I feel like its needs to be 1/2" higher on that side.

No spacers that I am aware of. Could be that the "leaner" has caused the seat springs on that side to become weak maybe broken. :burnout: :drama:

I put these under mine. Might be a little tall for what you need.

You could probably make some or just stack some washers whenever you need them on the studs.

The floor pan is not level under the seat and the side of the seat toward the tunnel is spaced up to make the seat sit level in the car.  I don't have stock seats in mine anymore but it seems like the tunnel side was at least a half to 3/4" taller to make up for the difference in the pan

Thanks for the offer. I can easily make some, but didn't know if there was something wrong with the floor pan or if spacers were a common thing to use since I know my seat springs are good.

Some previous owner of my car stacked washers and used them as spacers.    :-\

How thick/tall are the original factory seat spacers that the dealers would fit etc

Get some high density rubber and make the spacers it will also provide a little cushioning too.  I've done it a couple of times and works great.  Good luck.

:wave:Aha,i have a similar/same? dilemma.if looking through the front window on my -70 cuda the seatbacks seems to be leaning  towards the center of the car.i hope it just needs spacers, but i recall reading threads about e-body seatbacks cracking and showing this syndrome.. :horse:

When I took out my seats to replace the carpet I found spacers made out of what looked to be plastic about 3/8" tall and 1 3/4" diameter if that helps? They were cracked so I turned up new ones in aluminum. Hope that helps?

Would you stack the washers on top of carpet or between the seat and track?
