A-833 removal

Does anyone have the 833 removal process from the repair manual? And any tips on pulling it out to replace the clutch.

Im sure someone has a chiltons step-by-step, but to get the transmission out:

1) Remove exhaust if necessary
2) Remove shifter/rods/speedo gear as necessary
3) Remove driveshaft & plug output shaft
4) Support trans & engine
5) Remove (4) bolts from trans to bellhousing
6) Remove (4) bolts holding trans to crossmember
7) Remove transmission

Not much in way of tips to get it out, just be prepared to manhandle the thing! and it's a lot easier if you have a transmission jack and a lift.

You will be covered in oil once you tip the output end down unless you drain it first.
Please get a technical manual; they aren't perfect by any means but better than going at it blind. I spent many years in the Army trying to get soldiers to use their TMs.  No one ever wants to.

When you pull the drive line use a freezer bag and wrap it around the tail shaft and secure it with a rubber band and this will prevent oil from getting everywhere.

Also if you are planning on doing this in your garage flat on your back without a jack, have a friend under the car with you - that sucker is heavier than it looks and it will be sitting on your chest or smashing your hands before you know it. Having a friend with you can help you in one of two ways: they can help you wrestle that thing out and get it to the floor without smashing any body parts; or they can they can pull you (with the trans sitting on your chest) out from under the car by your ankles!

I have a copy of the Dodge service manual on CD for the 70 Challenger.   I'm happy to print and scan the pages associated with pulling the transmission so they can be posted to a reply as an attachment.   If you want all of the details with all of the exploded drawings of the inside of the A-833 and the associated text about a rebuild, it's probably better if I print all of those pages and mail them to you.   If you want the details, PM me your snail mail address and I'll get them on their way to you.  If you want the short version, I will post them later tonight.   Your choice.

Thank you for all the inputs guys. If I were home I would have it out and back in no problem. I've pulled it plenty. But trying to remember all the steps to relay to the guy doing it for me is hard to remember everything. Dakota, if you don't mind posting just the removal instructions that would be great. I think I have the Same CD but it is packed in storage with the rest of my stuff till I come home.

I saved my small block input spline yoke from the old driveshaft.
Just take out driveshaft, slip in the small block one and it's ready to drop.
