K-member and the sway bar should be black.  They were gloss black back in the day but it was very cheap paint.  It didn't have the high gloss that we have today.  I had my K and sway bar powder coated in a 60% gloss.

The upper control arms were bare metal...unpainted.  The lower control arms were bare metal dipped in cosmoline...a yellowish gold anti-corrosion coating.  The shackles were bare metal...unpainted.

Thanks Burdar
I will be re-enforcing the LCA's and K frame so not returning it to factory original, I'll more than likely paint the LCA's with a natural steel look paint of some description simply for protection, shackles I blasted the rust off them and painted them black, again simply for protection, the car is as I have since discovered, non matching otherwise  I would stick to original. as for powder coating the K frame I may still do this, along with the spring leaves.

Thanks again

Not sure I follow, You're not returning it to factory original but you're asking which "shade" of black is correct ?

If you plan is to modify the car, then every part is a blank slate and you can do whichever colour you think looks best....That's the best thing about building modified cars :2thumbs:

Alan,
Lets say, somewhat return to original, the gloss of today seems like a mirror, and from there I can only get satin black not semi gloss as such, the gloss looks horible the satin looks flat, right now Im between a rock and a hard place, do you guys have gloss, semi gloss, satin, flat and matt black or do you skip some, the paint shops here are not a lot of help. There is a paint here called Chassis black but its crap paint.

Can you get a paint shop to mix you the gloss that you want? I know here they can colour match.

I used Eastwoods Chassis Black, it is about 80% gloss.  I painted mine last year and it is holding up well.

SEM promax semi gloss is available in rattle cans from Summit. It looks good on brackets, pulleys and frame parts.

Thanks  67 Vert, i may try and see if there is a good branded Chassis black here and try it, Mopar Jack, it cant be shipped to Australia, unless you want to pay an un imaginable price in dangerous goods shipping.

Thanks everyone for your input.
