Goodysgotacuda did this before on his Cuda.  Try doing a serch either by topic or by user name.  I think that's his user name.
1972 Dodge Challenger Rallye 340, AT, Code TB3=Super Blue, SBD=8/17/1971.  Yes, a Rallye without the fender louvers from the factory because of the body side molding option.

I have a release from a late '70 C body, but I haven't installed it.  supposedly Gran Coupes had an optional trunk release, but I don't know where the button would have been installed. One thought was inside the center console, but I have nothing to back that up.  any knowledge would be helpful for a factory appearance!

Hi;  I have one in my 70 Challenger, was in the car when I got it many moons ago.  The release button is in the glove box mounted on the top, handy but out of the way.   Info on the unit:  Lectron Products Chrysler number 4054925   60043.  It is mopar as it has the pentastar stamp on it.  In a quick search I found one on Dragtimes new for $40.00.  They say it is for a 68 to 74 Charger.  Rob

Does the trunk key also work or is it power only?
Thanks.

I put the switch in the center console.  It has to be the most used upgraded I've done.

That unit looks similar to mine. the levers from the external trunk lock are different with the electronic unit, so you need to remedy that aspect of it.

I like the idea of the button in the center console!  :2thumbs:

Where did you get the button?

I've searched for the Late 80's New Yorkers, 5th Aves, Diplomats and such came with electronic trunk releases that was in Gordy's post but had no luck.

Just finished doing this to my '73 Challenger.Used a '73 C-Body latch and switch.Mounted the push button on the temperature control panel next to the rear speaker fader switch.Tapped into the hot terminal on the fuse box and put a fuse inline on the hot wire.

I have the exact same latch on my car too. Previous owner installed it. The wire disappears up the drivers side rocker panel area. I've never tried to trace it, or found a switch anywhere? How are they wired?  If I run 12V to the wire on the latch will that be enough to test it to see if it even works? I assume ground is to the body via the latch being bolted to the body?  If it's not working are they still available new?
