Radiator Question
« on: March 21, 2014 - 09:35:33 PM »
Looking for some solid information on the correct radiator for my '70 Challenger R/T equipped with a 440 Six-Pack. This is a factory numbers matching car with a Pistol Grip 4-speed. I have seen conflicting info on the correct Chrysler stampings on the radiator top tank. Some say 956 and other books say 958. The guy I bought the car from years ago (as a basket case) swore that the radiator was in one of the boxes :dunno: Never found it--- the seller wouldn't talk to me about it after the sale. I bought an aftermarket radiator that works great but have always thought that some day I would like to put the correct radiator in the car just to make it original as possible. Also, I read a few years ago that there is a licensed company out there that repops these radiators but can't seem to remember who it was. Anybody remember? :feedback:

Glen Ray Radiator is the licensed product radiator reproduction for Mopar.

They have fair stampings on the header.
Dimples and Font aren't as crisp as OEM and are disquinishable from OEM

you'd think it be a standard 26"?
72 Cuda, owned 25 years. 496, with ported Stage VI heads, .625 in solid roller, 254/258 at .050, 3500 stall, 3.91 rear. 850 Holley DP, Reverse manual valve body.

1999 Trans Am, LS1, heads, cam, headers, stall, etc! Love to surprise the rice rockets with this one. They seem so confident, then it's "what the heck just happened?"

I've seen the Glenn Rays in person and have an OEM 71' so I know this to be true.
I paid a pretty penny for it and then paid again to get it restored.

That is good knowledge to know, maybe GlenRay need someone to ask them or tell them that their pressings are not quite right  :dunno: It would be good if they were up to scratch as they are an expensive item they are providing to have these numbers as extra. :2thumbs: Thanks again Mike :grinyes:

be nice to visit a Mopar museum, where they have an e-body with only a few miles on it.

Thanks for all the input guys. I saw the reference to Glen Ray but was thinking that the company I read about had another name. :dunno:

Interesting comments but I would still like to know if anyone knows if my '70 440 six pack 4-speed Challenger requires a 956 or 958 radiator. I think it is a 956 but have been told that it should be a 958 and I don't know that I have ever seen a 958.  :clueless:
