Sure EFI is the way to go. But not many of us can swallow a $2500 upgrade.    :2cents:

Didn't realize QF is part of the Proform family. I have had a Proform on my car for 6 years now and never had to even dig inside it. All curve work done with external air bleed changes. Highly recommend it. I actually bought the entire carb from Proform jot the add on kit to Holley stuff

Yep same company. Don't know what the differences are? I went with QF because I don't like purple!  :roflsmiley:  Actually on mine, the main body says QF on one end and Proform on the other. Maybe the QF has more adjustments? On mine EVERY orifice where air or fuel passes has removable bleeds/jets

I have never found anything online that can verify that Quickfuel and Proform are the same company.  Quickfuel was formed by some ex Holley engineers originally whereas Proform was more a marketing/manufacturing group.

Without doubt, Quickfuel uses Proform carb bodies and probably other parts but it may be that the carbs coming from QF are tweaked differently from the Proform offerings.  I would not be at all surprised to find there is an alliance between the two of some sort where QF provides technical input that drives the Proform manufacturing.

QF is based out of Bowling Green, KY which makes sense because that is where Holley was.  Proform is called Specialty Auto Parts USA out of Warren MI.  It produces a wide variety of products.

For those that do their own carb tuning, I think the cheapest offering between the two is the way to go.  If you need technical support, QF appears better suited to handle that market.

I run dual 500 cfm Carters on my 340 and love them. Engine idles great and has great throttle response. Been years now, no problems with them. I'm using the small port 273/318 dual quad intake for a 273 engine. Seals fine with fel-pro print o seal intake gaskets, get the ones that end in S, they got a steel core sandwich between, you can not split them by over tightening.

Yes, I know those old Edelbrock intakes are very rare but they do show up for sale once in awhile. And tuning is more work and you need double   of everything, metering rods, jets but you asked for the best, I would not trade my set up for FI, for one I don't want high pressure fuel in the lines. There is good reason these newer cars catch on fire after a hard crash. 2nd, its really debatable if FI makes more HP, some engine tuners claim carbs make more HP, something about the ramming effect at high rpms. Fuel Injectors are sized limited, too big gives a lousy idle, too small, it can't flow enough at 7,000 rpm..then you have to get to dual FI for each cylinder.

There was good reasons dual carbs ruled the streets in the 1960's, yeah true, there was no Holley Dominator carbs back then either but those carbs don't idle so great on the street

I did not know the Dominator did not idle well on the street , I had a 1050 on my street driven race car for about 7 years , great response & drivability , no idle issues , simply the best carb I ever ran on it

for my STOCK 318 and my STOCK 440 I got them each a new Edelbrock.  Took them out of the box, bolted them on, set the idle and drove for a year before I even bought the tuning kit.  They ran good enough for cruise nights etc.  Once tuned, they actually had some performance.  The nice thing was no removing bowls and spilling gas everywhere.  Just a couple little doors on top to change the tuning parts.  Can be done on the side of the road while on a cruise.  Like many have said, it's not a maximum performance carb, but for a nice driver, they're easy and simple.
Yes I own a 1972 Dodge Challenger Convertible T/A S/E with a 440 Six Pak. Can it get any more wrong?

I have a quick fuel slayer 750 on my 360 and love it!  I'm just getting into tuning the motor as like Brad, it seems to run rich at idle.  I had it on the highway and the carb leaned way the hell out.  Best bang for the $$$.  Replaced a Holley 670 Avenger, won't buy another Holley.

My vote was the speed demon annular. The 850 cfm on my 440 works beautifully. It's an old shelf model, and it had an issue with the choke horn when I got it, but brand new for 300 bucks, and only need 5 minutes of work so. :dunno:
