No worries buddy. I do not mind helping out with things.
Trust me when i say, that you have just taken the step in to stardom by owning a Mopar of this calibre little buddy. These cars are a step above the rest and you will never loose out in value if you do not change too much from what this car is, make me wonder if it is a survivor or weather it has had any paint done on it prior to being put away in storage :clueless: Car could be more valuable than what we all know otherwise :money: A real keeper, and it is by far better than any GM or Ford product in my opinion, you have the freedom to start rubbing it in to the rest of the family now, i give you permission :poopoke: :roflsmiley: :smilielol:
Really a great car to find and own :2thumbs: good for you :clapping: :bigshades: :cooldancing:

Granted it's not an r/t, but head still held high since this is my first American muscle project. Just going to try and keep it as original as I possibly can.

OK, try this on for size. What you have in your possesion is not an R/T, only because Mopar never released an R/T with a 340 enigne in it except for a T/A that was not an R/T either. You have a Win - Win situation in what you have found, you will learn more to what you have as time goes on to what an awesome car you have found. :2thumbs:

Tell us the story how you found it in a barn.

These type of finds just don't jump out at you on a road while driving.

My dad had been doing some plumbing work for this little old lady and she mentioned that her husband had put a car away in the barn. Before he had passed on, the motor and tranny and been rebuilt, but she wasn't entirely sure as to what kind of car it was other than it said challenger down the side of it. My dad asked if he could take a look at it and so he did. He was amazed at how great of condition the car was in after all these years given the fact  it hadn't left that barn in 20 years. He asked if she was wanting to sell it and she said yes cause it'd be one less thing she'd have to hassle with. So he called me up and sent me a few pictures. She gave us a price on it and of course it was way below what I was expecting, so without hesitation, I bought it.

You could get a Challenger R/T 340 but only in 1971.

Great story :2thumbs:

We are talking 1970 here, no R/T 340 available in 1970 as Mark pointed out, they were available in 1971. Thanks Mark

Hey T8tr23

Great find and I am glad you would restore rather then resto mod which would destroy the car's value
A-66 340 challengers are unique to themselves, offered only in 1970.  Don't get hung up on RT vs 340 cars.  Despite the JH designation, the car came the factory with many "RT" options, sport hood, heavy duty brakes and suspension, often  a rear sway bar, a bumble bee stripe and of course the high winding small block 340.   You have an early car (Nov. 1969) with a rare color (black) and desirable 4 speed.  The car is more rare then the 383 big block RT challengers, and often can outperform them.  They are special challengers!
Couple of questions: Do you have the 15 in wheels which came on early A-66 cars, and does it have a rally dash?
I used the decoder on stockmopar.com to decode your car (below)  good luck

"usraptr" = United States raptor - bird of prey = United States Bald Eagle.  FYI, somebody else thought of it first so I had to drop the "O" in raptor.
