I believe, You forgot a W
H6XW   Trim Grade/Style/Color
H = High
6 = Vinyl Bucket Seats
X = Black
W=White

Black & White interior.

I see that I thought the stripe was white before, but a black bumble bee stripe on a black car is really cool!

Visit the link in my sig. There were RTs on my a66 too, but I have removed them. Stripping the exterior for some repair and repaint at the moment.    :bigsmile:

Hey T8tr23

Great find and I am glad you would restore rather then resto mod which would destroy the car's value
A-66 340 challengers are unique to themselves, offered only in 1970.  Don't get hung up on RT vs 340 cars.  Despite the JH designation, the car came the factory with many "RT" options, sport hood, heavy duty brakes and suspension, often  a rear sway bar, a bumble bee stripe and of course the high winding small block 340.   You have an early car (Nov. 1969) with a rare color (black) and desirable 4 speed.  The car is more rare then the 383 big block RT challengers, and often can outperform them.  They are special challengers!
Couple of questions: Do you have the 15 in wheels which came on early A-66 cars, and does it have a rally dash?
I used the decoder on stockmopar.com to decode your car (below)  good luck

Code   Description
E55   340 - 4 Barrel (6 - Barrel w/ A53 Code)

Very cool car. You typed the vin as JS above though instead of JH
I have a red/white 2 tone interior barracuda vert. You definitely don't see black & white interior very often.

Hey Josh, have a look on the first page. You were right the first time buddy, his car is a V9W White Bumble Bee stripe car, it would be V8W for a White and V8X for a Black longitudinal stripe. :wave:

Thank you for pointing that out.  I was typing various data in to get readings on some of my old cars and forgot to change the data plate translator to JH.  Interesting that it did not pick up on the incorrect JS code for a 70 A66 car

I'm pretty sure all decoders are 'dumb'. eg: they just data dump based on what you gave them <code a = xyz> and they aren't capable of saying "this code doesn't belong on X type vehicle" or 'this model wouldn't have code X if code G is present'. that would require a massive amount of coding and cross linking of data tables

I found out that someone had put a 273 small block in this car. However, I have even better news! I recently purchased a 1970 A66 340 motor for it. I understand that it will not be a numbers matching car, but the fact that it is the exact same motor that came out of the exact same make of car is more than exciting! Block number 2780930
