70 Cuda with 440 and A833 trans......Can you replace the clutch fork with the trans installed? Have never tried.....not sure if there's enuf room to get the fork on the mounting bracket with the input shaft/front bearing retainer there.

Is the pain getting the fork onto the bellhousing mtg bracket or getting the throw out bearing clips onto the fork? or both?

They both have to be done at the same time more or less in one motion.

OK cool. At least I know its possible now. I've reached in before and put the clips on the fork......just wasnt sure if theres enuf room to remove the current fork and put a new fork on with the trans installed.

it's doable but a challenge, and it will fight you the whole way. You can get the clips on the throw out bearing but when you try to mount the fork the throw out bearing falls off. The angles have to be perfect and everything slides together�.it will take you quite a few tries to get it right.

My plan of attack was to attach the fork to the pivot bracket.....then attach the TOB clips. Any reason this approach won't work?

I think you have to carefully align and start all three points of contact.....then push the fork in place.

Guess Im not grasping why that is. I knocked the TOB clips off the fork once when installing a trans. The fork wasnt disturbed, it was still in the pivot bracket. So I reached in and attached the clips.

So based on that dont know why I cant put the fork on the pivot bracket then attach the TOB clips. Guess theres something Im not considering if several people have said you have to attach the fork to the pivot and the clips to the fork all at once.

Guess I'll give it a whirl and see what happens.

As mentioned, the fork will touch the TOB and clip at the same time, so pushing it further on, they all need to be somewhat aligned at the same time. At least that's what I ran into with mine.

Well I'm pretty sure you'll find out what works once you get into it...I could be totally wrong too...
