Front suspension rebuild kit
« on: March 25, 2014 - 12:21:52 PM »
So my '73 Barracuda NEEDS the front suspension rebuilt this spring/summer. I don't race the car so I'm looking at a pretty stock redo. I like how complete the PST Super kit is but it's fairly pricey. After finding that, I pieced together a complete MOOG set with everything the PST kit has on Rock Auto for $310 (mine doesn't have a sway bar so that's missing out of the mix). Is there any difference in quality between the two?

I actually ordered the PST kit first, then found out that some of the parts are made in Asia so I sent it back for a refund.  I ordered the Moog kit from Mancini Racing.  The Moog parts made here, fit perfectly, and costs less than PST.

Good for you!!  I hope you let them know why you were returning the kit.  Even if just a significant percentage of a company's customers go elsewhere, that should be enough to offset any real savings they get sourcing these parts from China.  I know I've emailed PST the same question about the sourcing of some of their parts and never got an answer, so I'll just assume I know why they would rather not answer that question.  Why I'm also looking to buy some suspension parts from Firm Feel ... Moog & Made In The U.S.A. for me!

I too shyed away from the PST front rebuild kit and ordered all moog from rock auto. The only things purchased from PST were solid tie rod sleeves and lca braces.

I will be ordering my adjustable strut rods from Reilly motorsports and torsion bars from firm feel. Rear leafs may come from hotchkis. I really like their whole tvs kit, but it's rather pricey. I may have to do that upgrade next year after I am already driving the car.

I bought the PST kit and am very pleased with the quality and fit.  This was four years ago.  I didn't know some or all of it was from China.  Don't think I found that anywhere.  If so I definitely would go MOOG next time.  I also would go with Firm Feel products.  The did my power steering unit and it works great.  I sent them my old one and got the same one back with the level II feel.

Magnum Force suspension kits any good? Redoing the front suspension on my 70 Barracuda to coil overs and rack and pinion steering, the shop recommends the Magnum Force kit. Any feedback?
