Hello from California Bay Area
« on: March 26, 2014 - 07:58:34 PM »
hi guys,
I'm a new Mopar owner as of last weekend. Picked up a 1970 Challenger thats been disassembled and sitting in a container for the last 10 years. the car is in remarkable shape, albeit in pieces.

It's an orginal 383, 2bbl car. The PO had planned on doing an R/T clone and I'm going to go the same route. The PO purchased all the necesary factory R/T parts (dash, console, hood, etc) and everything is all there waiting for me to start.

I'm finishing a 55' chevy right now and I expect to start on the Challenger build at the beginning of the year.

I'll resize a photo and post here shortlly.

Welcome.

Where are you located at?

There's a great Mopar show/swap meet in N Ca in Cupertino coming up in June.
Hope to see you there.
Mike, Fremont, CA.

Hey guys, thanks for the welcome...not sure on the color yet, the car was originally blue and I may go back to that but I'm sure I'll change my mind on that over next couple of years! the car was back halved and raced in vacaville in the late 80's early 90's...supposedly ran 12's. I'm going to resto mod it with a definite 70's street racer vibe to it.

Hi Mike, Im in Pleasanton just up the 680 from you! I'm trying to not get distracted to much from my 55' build...After 4 years, I'm maybe 6 months from being done and need to stay focused (pic below)!

I'll definetly make it to Cupertino...I've got to start getting up to speed on the MOPAR world!

a pic of the Challenger when it left the PO' shop...his son had written on it and spray painted crap all over it. I sanded it off and rattle canned it with some rustoleum to cover some bare metal spots.

Welcome from another Northern Californian. I am in Millbrae, the other side of the Bay.

When you say RT clone, would that mean a HEMI going in? Did the car comes with the 383?

Hi 7212!
haha! no, I wish it was going to have a hemi! it came with a 383 but I dont think the original 383, I havent even looked yet! I'm hoping to open it up this weekend and take a look at the pistons and heads.
Hope our paths cross at the Cupertino show!
