that's pretty amazing.  I remember the Northridge quake, which seemed traumatic to me at the time.  it was a 6.6 that lasted maybe a minute or 2.  I cant imagine a 9.2 that lasted 4 minutes!

We went over to Crescent City CA, after the Tsunami hit as a result from the Earthquake, (I was 3 so I don't remember) my dad has a bunch of pictures of cars flipped over, and debris everywhere.

With the anniversary, there has been plenty of talk about the big one similar to the Alaska Quake hitting in my neck of the woods, approximately 50 miles off the Oregon coast is Cascadia Subduction, which is about due to hit. They say if it does, that the Anchorage Quake will seem minor, scary stuff...

Yeah if the Cascadia Fault lets go like they expect it's gonna be ugly.. The only reason Alaska wasn't much worse is because in 64 not allot of people lived there... I did, I was 5 at the time & while I was young thats something you just don't forget... The street in front of our house rolled by in 2 foot high waves going right to left.. Homes on both sides of us collapsed, somehow we only lost a couple dishes & an aquarium... We had neighbors living with us for months, my dad was part of the Air Forces Fast Response Mobile Construction Battalion so we didn't see much of him for months... When we did he took us for tours of areas that saw allot more damage than our neighborhood..

This definitely dates me......I can vaguely  remember my parents talking about it.

At the time, I doubt if I even had a concept of what a quake was....
