Re-arch or add a leaf
« on: March 28, 2014 - 09:17:04 AM »
I want to raise the back of the car about 3/4". Is it better to re-arch or to add a leaf? If I add a leaf which leaf do I duplicate? Where is the best place to get them and is there any way to now how much extra lift I will gain? Will I need new U-bolts?

Do you have any "spring places" near you ? Look in the yellowpages under truck repairs etc...
There is a great one in Milton ON (SERPACT SPRING SERVICE Ltd) right off hwy #401

...I've had them re-arch and press new bushings in for me before.
I've taught you everything you know.....but I haven't taught you everything I know !

Cudajas told me last summer there is a place in Cambridge that does it. Maybe he'll chime in here with a name. And I think there is somewhere in London, not sure.

I have just cut the eyes off main leafs & added them under the main leaf , it will lift it approx. 1-1.5 "
I would use a new center bolt & U bolts

There is a spring shop here in Barrie I used to add a leaf in my work van. I'm certain there is one closer to you though?

There is a spring shop in Cambridge...several properly.

I have spoken to them regarding de-arching my leaf springs.

So no feedback, but they are pleasant to talk to.

I bought a pair of springs from Detroit spring years ago because I wanted the rear of my car to sit higher than stock . . . back in the day, that was cool I thought!  I have the springs still and would be willing to part with them if you are interested.

Over the years I just went out to the yard find a pair that weren't selling and cut out the one I needed (wanted?). Having a gas wrench really helps BTW
