 Hi.
 
 New here, but not by any measure a newbie. Third generation Mopar guy. Into all things Mopar. Trucks as well as cars. Mopar or no car.....yeah, I'm one of THOSE guys. You know.....the guy that if he had the coin.....would have a functioning early hemi air-raid siren.  [and I meant it, when I mentioned functioning.] Some might say, I think outside the box. Untrue. I never considered a box to begin with.

 Long time Cummins guy[first was a 79] I LOVE torque monsters! Manuel Transmissions! My dream "barn find" leans more to a original Bighorn, then a long lost Hemi.....oh what the heck, if I'm gonna dream, may as well be big. A long lost Hemi on the back of the Bighorn......

 Primary reason for joining.......I plan to restore my 73 Challenger.......340/4 speed Rallye. Hopefully starting within the next year. Rust. Lots of rust. I traded my bike for it in June of 77.....my father, being wise, financed me. Anything to get rid of the Honda. Parked since 86. Did I mention it has some rust problems?

 No pics......at least for a while. Pretty much buried under way too much stuff. Sometime in the next few months, will get my shop cleaned out.....and find the car. Yeah, there's that much crap in the building. Long story.

 Going to need to learn to weld thin metal better. I do have some experience in thicker [1/8 + up] metal fab, as well as general mechanical and paint skills......so, not a newbie.

 So I plan to learn as much as I can from here......and try to not make too big a fool of myself posting.

Let me be the first to welcome you to the forum.   You will enjoy your stay and we will enjoy the ride along with you on the restoration.  We do like pics so even if you can'see the car now....at least take a pic of where it is supposed to br hiding.         Every one get taged  with that..

I do know where it's hiding......no physical way anybody could get close enough to see it, let alone steal it. So it's safe. Building is 32x44. Simply had no other place to store a whole bunch of stuff. A lot of old family related......unfortunately 80% percent worthless junk. But it all has to be gone thru to sort out the 20% that means something to me or my kids. But, slow going.

Car has always been blue. Light, dark, and the original.....not sure the correct name, always thought of it as Petty blue. Black top and interior. Had a build sheet......unfortunately, that was in my house when I lost it to fire in 08. As far as I know, the drivetrain is original, and while lots of rust problems....it's very complete.

Anyone have a idea of how rare it is? Haven't wanted to get to excited about doing it, until.....well, I was getting close to starting on it.

No......but it is the type of thing I would do.....if the price was fair.

Looking thru CL can be somewhat painful. Always find parts/projects I want......but do not need. Way to many projects as it is. [sigh] It's an addiction.

I try to get to the strip a couple of times a summer. Last year, I made the Hot rod reunion and Mopar day. Will have to get together sometime. Always good to talk to someone who appreciates fine automobiles.

Recently, I actually got a fresh look on how good that color looks.....on a 4door Valiant. My lady's neighbor finished redoing one. Not too many go for a 4 dr.....but he has a family connection to it. It's the last car he parents purchased new, he got his license in it, etc. Looks fantastic. Prior to seeing it, was going for a color change. Not now.

A Mopar saved......

I've had this car since 77.....so there is an emotional attachment to it. The plan is......to clean out and organize my shop.....secure it better......then evaluate the car, find out what it needs, form a plan.....and LOTS of pics.

With everything else going on.....hoping to start work on it next winter.

But.....having a plan survive the first encounter with reality.........
