Autometer 340 sender location help please...
« on: April 05, 2014 - 01:11:14 AM »
Hi guys. I have just bought mechanical Water temp, Oil pressure & Oil temp Autometer gauges going into a 340.

I am figuring out where to mount them and am a little unsure of the sender locations  :clueless:

I believe the oil pressure sender is next to the distributor? Yes?

The water temp sender is on the water pump? It has the original electric sender so I am assuming the Autometer unit will replace the electric sender?

Where does the oil temp sender go?

Any tips appreciated and photos would be great. I am sure many of you have done this replacement before.

Thanks.

oil sending unit is behind distributor...you can see where the oil line goes in this picture.  This is for oil pressure, not oil temp..

Oil temp sensor goes in a bung on the oil pan. Most oil pans will not have provisions for one.  You could mount it in a "manifold" on the cooler lines if you had an oil cooler. In all honestly you don't need an oil cooler on a street driven engine .(or a gauge)  :2cents:

Not sure about the oil temp gauge:  To me, for the average street car, oil pressure and water temp are more likely to be more important than an oil temp gauge
