Trunk floor sections needed PLEASE
« on: April 06, 2014 - 02:20:39 AM »
Team,

does anyone make just the left and right truck floor section to replace the two spots that the muffler head shield plates attache to. per the photo below, the rest of my floor is freat, its just both these spots are rusted!

it seems these are commonly rusted and I'd rather not have to buy a full new floor just for these two pieces, does anyone know if they are made by someone or does anyone know of any originals in good condition I coulde get my hands on please.

Might check with MoparDave.  He was selling the trunk halves at clearance price.  Just cut out what you need.

Pitted with holes
the left is worse with two big holes. I have welded some but chase the thin metal with the Mig, here are pic's of both left and right

I have the same issue with my Cuda.  In talking with the body shop we are just going to buy a repop trunk floor and remove and replace the bad sections instead of doing the whole trunk floor.  For the trunk sections we are talking about, your floor is less rusted then mine.

This seems to be a common issue with these cars but I have not found anyone who makes patch panels for the trunk.  To keep the cost down I am going to buy a Goodmark single piece truck floor to do the repair with. I believe you can get them for around $140.

Thanks guys, if I can get a whole repop floor pan for reasonable money I'm not against that, I will have it sent to a mate in WA to cut the pieces out and only ship the bits I need to keep International freight to a somewhat normal cost.
I wonder if the manufacturer like Goodmark would just cut those bits out to save on local shipping costs? For me its the shipping, both local US and international that are the deal breaker, I might be able to get a repop floor but shipping all up can cost three times the cost of the item

I picked mine up from Rock Auto and cut sections out to patch the floor.  All good.

I was saving these to use as templates for drilling the holes in my new pan.  the surface rust should come right off . I'll bead blast them first to make sure.  Take a good look at them to make sure they will work. My car had a hole cut in the trunk for a fuel cell so it looks like it will come close to what you have to cut out.

I had to go out of town for work.  It will be Friday before I get a chance to do it.  Will send you a picture when I knock it out.

Here is what I got.  The first picture is the best of the 2.  The black spots are just sealer and very little rust.  The other side is not so good. It's your call.  If you want them, you can have them.  Just pay the shipping.
