You will need to remove the entire dash pad; it has a metal frame and is screwed to the car body; remove all guages, ac and heater hoses and everything else connected to it. Dash pads are held in by screws up under the windshield (hard to reach but possible) and two on the sides. Not for the faint of heart but not impossible to change out. There are two types of replacements; one that is molded onto an original steel frame (and you have to send them your core so they can make more), and the plastic type that is molded onto a plastic frame. I do not know which is better but the plastic ones are cheaper. I am talking about the entire dash pad/board; not a cap, which you say you already have.
