Upper control Arm Cam Bolts question
« on: April 11, 2014 - 10:59:19 PM »
I put my upper control arm Cam bolts in thru the upper control arms.

On from the inner fender, underneath towards the engine compartment side. (Facing out each way)

I need pictures and measurements if possible, how long the bolt sticks out on the engine side.
'Also, what is the total length.of the cam bolts by themselves?

Mine look like they're too long or I need special nuts that are wider?

Thanks for the pictures.

I believe that confirms mine are correct.
I just thought it was wierd that they stuck out so far.
Mine measured 4.25" end to end.

I'm thinking there must be different lengths available. My cam adjuster bolts only stick out about 1/8" past the nut.  :clueless:

I received this e-mail on some UCA Cam bolts on E bay I inquired about.

"total length of the bolt, including the head, is 4 inches"
These were A body.

E body is 4.25" according to mine I measred.

Difference is minor. I suspect either were used on E bodies.

It's weird, the fastener guide doesn't list a length. Both my Challenger and Dart cam bolts are 4" long overall. They have one flat on them and were phosphated. The aftermarket replacements are usually a little longer. Sometimes they have two flats on them. Most are also zinc plated.

From the pictures, it looks like these are special nuts. Wider than the normal width.
Are they?

Yes, the nuts are wide...kind of like the rear end U-bolt nuts.
