Love it when people eyeball my car........... EXCEPT
« on: April 12, 2014 - 11:25:20 PM »
I live in a town of 20,000 half of which is college (Eastern Illinois University) with another town of 20,000 nearby. I own the only Cuda in my area which is great. But when they follow right on my butt in tight traffic, in my blind spot or stay beside me for several miles giving me the thumbs up over and over and over it gets very aggravating. Theres been a couple of times I had to make an exit just to get away from them. This wasn't something I ever expected. Kind of hard to complain to my friends about it because they would just say I was bragging, but I think you guys will understand. :pullinghair:

It's really wierd here where I live.

There was a time when Muscle cars ruled everywhere.
Now it seems Prius's and Teslas's took their place.

The money from high tech business is big around here.
And nobody here is originally from this state anymore.

The Big boys play with Ferrari's and Labroghini's.

I have a feeling I may be frowned upon with a high polluting vehicle.
I don't care.

Mike, Fremont, CA.

You will find yourself driving at the speed limit on the freeway, right lane because you don't have OD and just about every cars will zoom by you. Including those little Prius, Yaris or whatever. Muscle cars still rule the road, may be just on the weekends. Most people will take them out on a sunny day.

The muscle cars war is still alive, just fewer options. The 2015 Challenger will be out next week with the Hellcat to follow. Step aside little Prius, I got OD too (my YJ).

Ps, the Teslas S are very quick.

No OD and 3.91s but still in outside lane doing 75-80!

I`ve had some drivers come to close because they are paying more attention to my cuda than their driving but they don`t usually follow along too long.

I've had people almost run into my car while trying to take pictures while driving.
The worst issue I have is the local cops. They always follow me. If I take the car out and I see a cop  it's a 80% chance they turn around and follow me. 3-4 times in the last couple seasons they have followed me for about 1/2 hour ( 15 miles or so) and right to my driveway. Most times they turn off after 10 minutes or so.
I'm not sure if they are just admiring the car or waiting for me to got 1MPH over the limit so they can give me a ticket and obtain "hero" status. :pullinghair:

Brad, next time they follow you just start going around the block. See how many laps you can make before they leave you alone  :stirpot:

I've been really tempted a few times to stop in the middle of the road and ask them what they want.  :icon16:

We have had a few nice days lately and I've been driving my old cars.  Not a scientific analysis by any means but it seems my 55 Plymouth gets more attention than my 70 R/T. The R/T is FJ5 , considered a high impact color and Cuda's and early Challengers are rare around Olympia.  Is it because of all the new Challengers and people don't distinguish the originals from the reprints?
Funny, a guy in an 80's Camera convertible asked if my 55 Plymouth was a Frasier.  We were in a parking lot and he could not see the name tag but there is resolutely no resemblance of a 55 Plymouth 2-door hard top to a Frasier.  No offense to Chevy owners on this site but many owners of GM and Ford vehicles are so centered on their own cars they don't know much about the others.

I love to talk about my car but sometimes I just want to cruise. I get very nervous in parking lots and try not to leave it alone when out. Highway gawkers, kids and people with dogs make me nervous as well.
keep honking I'm reloading

Not a great picture.  I just discovered I don't have a lot of pictures of my 55 Plymouth that I've Owned since 1977.  I restored it in 1981 and this is the way it looks today.  Has a 259.4 CID V/8, Power-flite and 3.54 gears.  It is a Belvedere 2-door hard top, completely stock and all original parts, colors, vinyl, fabrics and trunk interior.  Now has 85,000 original miles, 15,000 on the restoration.    A great little car.

Not surprised you like the color, being from Florida.  The green is "Glades Green"  and the black is just Black.  The interior is matching green vinyl and the seats and door panels have Black Magic Boucle inserts.  I had a 55 Plymouth, 1956 until 1970 that was Seminole Scarlett and Sarasota Sand (Red and White), all Florida related colors for 1955.
During the time I had the Red and White Plymouth I thought if I ever had another one I would like the green and black.  I was lucky enough that it happened.
