Rear seat shoulder belts
« on: April 15, 2014 - 12:55:48 PM »
My son is 5 and no longer fits in a car seat. He now uses a booster seat. In order to use the booster seat, I need to have three point seat belts.
Were 'Cudas ever available with optional rear shoulder belts? If not, I need to figure out how I can install them into our '73. Has anyone every made this modification?
I will be installing (aftermarket) shoulder belts in my '69 Charger in the next few weeks. Here is the link to see how how I willing be installing them in my Charger.

John,
I don't recall ever seeing e-bodies with rear shoulder belts.
But you sure are a good dad for keeping safety in mind for young riders.

I've got the same problem but my cars are both convertibles which makes it even more interesting.

I'll see if I can get pics or find out how mine were installed but another member on here just finished installing rear shoulder belts in my 74 cuda this past weekend.  I know they are bolted to the rear deck but I didn't look closely at the rest.  They were a requirement as well for my kids to ride in the car.

Didn't he have the code on his e body?

It's nice out today so when I get home I'll pull the car out and take what pics I can get of the mounts and post them up so you can see.  Mine didn't have a rear seat belt option but he managed to install aftermarket ones from Summit.

The link above, posted by Brad's 70 contains some information and pictures I posted about Rear Seat Shoulder Belts in my 70 Challenger.  My fender tag contains code C-14 for rear seat shoulder belts.  I have additional pictures and could answer questions if you have any.  It is a rare factory option as I've never seen another.  I've tried to learn of others but no success.  I know that a few people have added them for the same reason you are.  I would be happy to help if I can.

Not saying that you should compromise the safety of your children, but I'm curious is it a state law , personal preference, or booster seat requirement to have the 3 point? My sons booster can work with just a lap belt that's why I ask.
