1971 Plymouth Cuda
« on: April 18, 2014 - 10:28:13 AM »
It is a true 340 4 speed CUDA car from the factory but does not have the original engine. It has a very peppy 360.  Only 1141 were built with 340 4 speeds.
This CUDA was completely disassembled and put on a rotisserie. Everything was restored or replaced.
I have a nice stack of restoration receipts and loads of restoration pics. The receipts provide significant insight into what it took to bring this ‘CUDA to its current state.  I added a extra pic to show what it looks like with Magnum wheels.  The car comes with the billets.

VGW is most likely V6W which would be white bill board stripes which would increase the rarity by about 200%

Thanks for the heads up Anlauto.  I just looked a little closer. There is a little pimple of corrosion(I guess) on the middle part of the digit that makes it look like a G. I guess it does look like a 6.  I need to step back and have this professional checked. I don't want to monkey around and ruin it by scraping.
I'll keep you posted.
Thanks for the compliment turbo224.

you can also try a reverse rub pencil on it - flip it over and do the rub. the backside sometimes has less corrosion and can make code ID easier

Wow!
Beautiful car.
Personally, I would have preferred hemi orange under the hood, but the gold sets it apart.
And that interior. Awesome. Makes me think I need to get rid of my console. Something about that shifter and rubber boot draws your eyes to it.

Hey guys,
Thanks for the tips.  I pulled the plate and looked at the backside.  It is V6W.
I'm curious though, has any seen a blue 71 with black interior and white billboards?
How "or" can I confirm this config and the production count?
Thanks!

All the breakdowns were recorded, this provided information and feedback as to what sold and what did not sell. The problem was records were lost and destroyed for a number of reasons. Chrysler was also not flush with cash in the 70s and 80s and room to store everything was minimal. Parts and records were often disposed of due to the lack of space. A few employees and those on the fringe saw some value and grabbed what they could but most was destroyed.

got it. Thanks for the compliments and advice!
I dug through the old pics that came with the car when I bought it.
From this high quality polaroid  :o it appears the rear marker lights have the white painted trim. It appears this combo may be correct and they just removed the billboards.

Beautiful car! Just curious why it doesn't have the typical"cuda" trim on it?

Were the holes in the tail panel for the trim welded up?
