often just swapping the thermostat to a cooler one will gain more Hp & for only $12 or so
I've heard this said before. Can you explain the theory behind it, and why it works? I'm not even sure what thermostat these cars have from the factory now.
Engine runs cooler, so ECM allows more fuel than it would if engine was hotter.
Cooler would be 160, but 180 seems pretty close to optimum from what I have seen on the dyno while minimizing wear Steve
To run a 180 T Stat you will need a Diablo tuner to adjust the fan settings to come on at a lower temp. If you do not do this the engine will still run at the high temp although it will take longer to reach it.
