Time for some fresh new EF8
« on: May 03, 2014 - 12:25:34 AM »
Well I did it. I pulled the trigger for some new EF8 on my BS27H0B******
Dropped it off last Friday 4/25 after work.
I took these pictures with my phone on Wednesday 4/30.
Received my Hydroboost from Hydrotech on Thursday so I'm a little closer to having all of the front end suspension, steering and brakes for when it comes home. Doubt I will have time to install it all before the Mopar Spring Roundup 6/1 in Everett WA but I should be there if all goes well.
Only needed the 2 little patches on the bottom of the drivers qtr. I guess I'll just hang on to the trunk extensions that I bought just in case but were not needed.

A little POR 15

All that needed to be removed were these small patches.

Here is the same quarter just a couple weeks earlier.

Should be in primer next week.

A lot more than just some fresh paint.
And I have to say I think your body shop has been very productive. Most shops around here would still have my car sitting in the corner collecting dust and primer overspray.
Cant wait to see it when its done  :drunk:

Yup, they didn't waste any time getting right to it. A buddy of mine did all the body work and painted it in 1988 for $3000.00 so it was already super straight and smooth. He just could not commit to the short turnaround time that I wanted so it's at Fenders and Fins.
They were recommended to me by several other mopar owners and my mechanic.
Summer is too short around here and I don't drive it in the rain.
It would be different if I were in Florida. I wouldn't drive it in the summer because it doesn't have AC.

Looks like a good job!!!  :2thumbs:

Most Cuda's that have damage in that area routinely need quarters, pans, inners, etc.

Patched and in primer. Block sanding last week, final prime and color next week. Pardon my poor quality phone pics.

The next 2 pictures are of a 70 440 6-pak numbers matching 4 speed car being done at the same shop.
I met the owner and gave him a c-c.com business card. He bought his car the same year I bought mine... 1987

Refinishing my Cuda Gill Rocker moldings at home this weekend.

First I masked off the existing argent and painted the Black with OEM Paints "Blackout"
Then I masked the fresh black. There are 71 on each rocker. About 3.5 hours to mask one rocker.

Then I sprayed on OEM Paints "Medium Argent"

Then removed the tape masks

The new on the left, the old argent on the right with new black

The rockers were missing when I bought my car and I bought these from Year One in 87 or 88.
I don't remember if they were NOS or repops. Not much was available back then in reproduction. Not like today.
The old finish looked more like silver ski boat metal flake on top of black. Or it could be that over the years the argent has just been worn thin from sandblasting as it rolled down the road. Either way I liked the old look but there was a lot of rock chips and thin spots that made them look very worn and now they have a very consistent finish. The Grill will be refinished with the same OEM Paints "Medium Argent"
16 days till The Spring Roundup In Everett WA...

Wow, that's definitely a lot of work. It sure turned out nicely though. That's probably a lot nicer than even the factory did back in the day.

Cant wait to see the end results!

I have heard things about Fenders & Fins and thought about giving them a call to see if they can do my 71 vert, so look forward to seeing progress!

Just curious on the wheels are you running a stock E body rear? Lowered at all or factory ride height?
