Nice. How did you restore the hood and trunk latches?
I soaked them in a mix of 50/50% muriatic acid and water.
Make sure you use eye protection and rubber gloves. Outside!
Read all the precautions! It's nasty stuff, you don't want to breathe the fumes either.
You should be able to get a gallon at your local hardware store for about $6 or $7 bucks.
Choose a container that your parts will fit easily. I used an empty plastic Costco cashew jar. Add your 50% water first then the acid.
I only used about 16 ounces, just enough to cover the parts.
I keep a small bucket with baking soda and water handy for neutralizing the acid on the parts when I take them out.
Light rust and oxidation will dissolve quickly. Be careful not to leave in too long or it will eat the good metal too!
Rinse well with fresh water. Then I dry them and blow them off with an air compressor. I wiped them down with acetone but you could use lacquer thinner too, then I sprayed them with VHT clear caliper paint.
I did an ashtray too and painted it SEM Landau Black.
If you do an ashtray don't leave the handle on it will dissolve...
Pot metal I think.
