Those 17" Magnums from YearOne just look so at home on that car, i feel they really improve the look of an E-body, especially a Challenger, and you nailed the tyre combo IMO. :2thumbs:

I would have to agree...I really like the look. This car was an original 14" Magnum car, so it's not much of a stretch...
I want to try YearOne's 17" rallyes next :2thumbs:

Just going over some numbers....
I spent a total of 378 hours working on this car for both of it's recent owners. That's only about 15% higher then I would spend on a totally "stock" resto.
Like I said....the next car with these type mods will be easier for sure !

Great job Alan!  I owned the car for about 15 years before selling it to Darren...  I will gladly provide copies (digital) of all the pictures I have to the owner if he would care to have them... here are a couple:

Those pictures are great thank you...It's amazing how many times this car changed owners and nobody stepped up to do a restoration on it.... :dunno:

In a way I wish the current owner would have restored it completely stock, but I can't blame him for the tasteful upgrades he chose...At least the car looks "somewhat" stock from the outside, and now will get driven...and driven hard !

Thanks for sharing....Alan

Hey Alan, what's the engine color code you used ? I am assuming I use the same  code for my T/A ? Anyone know? It has a peeling orange paint job nowadays....

Also, what color for the exhaust manifold? Again, does anyone know ... is it same for a T/A ?

I don't use any special "code" for engine paint, I ususally just use spray bomb stuff...The trick is in the prep...has toi be clean. I like Dupli-Colour Hemi orange.
Manifolds were never painted from the factory however they were bolted to the engine prior to paint and got orange overspray on them.

I ceramic coat all my manifolds in a cast grey, then bolt them on. That way they never rust.

I thought you were looking to buy a "done car" ? I didn't think you wanted to restore a car. :dunno:

Ha.... Thanks for the info. Didn't want to restore but well.... It's worked out I am doing so...

Now that I have it I have decided I'm  gonna get the engine running right so I don't have to muck around later....

It has a few issues, but I knew it'd need the work when I bought it and factored that in, so no surprise there....

The engine builder wants to paint it straight out of the bath so he doesn't have to hit it with anything once it's exposed to air.

I'll hafta give him a paint code for Hemi orange do he can get the paint prepared

Oh yeah did you try to emulate the overspray ? And just for more confirmation, do You know if I just paint everything orange on a T/A?

That is, do I follow what you've done on this engine within this thread?

Is that what you did with the AAR and T/A you've restored?  Incidentally, we're the AAR and T/A engines painted the same way?

I never claim any of the work I've done as being 100% correct way the factory did it. As with many restorers there's many interptations of the way it was done.
The AAR's and T/A engines were painted just like any other Mopar engines, nothing special. :2cents:

Sounds good. My car is gonna need plenty of help looking original - so many dents and dings!

Not so hung up on it either myself. Just thinking I'd like to do it as others like you have done it before me, since I don't wanna be bothering with it again down he track.

Good to have a bit of a guide, so thanks!
