Hey Alan

Can you touch upon how much it generally costs and timing for you to put her all back together after paint?

B
With this thread my intention was to post a couple of pictures each day showing what I got done also how many hours I worked that day. That should give you an idea of how much the labour costs would be. :2cents:

I have a couple of different options for metal work. In this case the current owner at the time choose to take the car to Boothill Auto Resurection in Erin ON. This was my first experence with them for metal work....
The car sat for almost a year before the project was moved there. I work at the pace set by the car owner's budget.

Pictures taken June 24th 2013

Alan - Were you satisfied with the work Boothill did? Will you be taking any more cars to them?

As the then owner, I was very pleased with the work that Boothill did, and even more so, the fact that work actually progressed on the car rather than it being shoved into a corner and forgotten/delayed.  Great attention to detail, they follow directions well, and proactively did some thoughtful things such as re-contouring the AMD quarter to match the door profile (from AMD the upper section is nearly flat whereas OEM/NOS has a slight curve to it).

Despite the car being almost rust-free, with very clean sheet metal, unfortunately it was 'rode hard, put away wet' early in its life and there were countless hours into straightening and correcting prior damage.  The quarter would have been saveable but for the fact it looked like a refugee from a golf driving range....

I would happily recommend both Alan and Boothill again without hesitation.

I've had the metal work on this Challenger done there as well as the paint work on this black J code Hemi Charger...

...in a nutshell...YES I look forward to working with them again on future projects, but in all honesty, they are on the "higher" side when it comes to pricing....higher, but not unreasonable and as member YYZ pointed out, you get what you pay for. :2cents:

just a thought, but since you are putting the time into this blog, why not consider putting it into an e-book as well? I for one would buy one in a heartbeat for reference material in a build. just a thought. if you do decide to do it, put a lot of thought into detailed pics with descriptions and hints as you go along. not a lot, but a way to get little extra $$ long term too and help everyone down the line. then do a part 2 with a Barracuda :)

Thought I would start with exterior trim today. A lot of drilling holes, nutserts for mirrors etc...but nothing looks nicer then all the shinny chrome. The door handles will have to wait until the stripes and the cool trim like the spoiler and scoops are still at the body shop.
Got the door weather-strip, some small parts in each wheel well and parts on the underside as well.....

Off and running...

Not a lot happening today...I chose to do the engine side of the firewall and engine compartment.

One of the last wiper motors restored by Jules :angelwings:....Unfortunately he didn't get around to the latches so I just painted them.
Rev-a-nator is in place temporary until I test it on the dyno.
Looking at the pictures myself, I'm not happy with the cowl vent screen...have to address that tomorrow
