how many hours you got in restoring all the sub assemblies?

Excellent question :worshippy...Over the past eight months I spent 176 hours working on the components and sub assemblies.
With the cars I restore, I average 320-350 hours of my labour. This one may be on the low side of that number when finished.

Do you send out a mass of parts to be re cad or anodizing?
Or do you buy repro replacements?

Depends on what the customer wants...I stock a lot of the correct fasteners for underhood, chassis etc...so most times the cars get new hardware or just painted (flat black) hardware if it's out-of-sight.

I don't get alot of "deep pocket" customers....I try to do restorations for the working man :smokin:

Saturday 05/17/14  5 hours === 27 hours Total

I know, I know, I know......I never work weekends, but my glass guy wanted to come up today so we did the glass and headliner...Looks awesome...nothing nicer then new glass and that eye-popping white interior against that nice dark purple... :drool:

So WEEK ONE over....not exactly a 40 hour week, but you get the idea.... :smilielol:

DISCLAIMER: If you're doing this at home...You should ALWAYS, always, always plan to install the dash assembly before the windshield...

This is one of those pain in the arse things that I mentioned before caused by the fact that American Powertrain has not sent me the parts I ordered 16 weeks ago  :swear: . This car is getting a hydraulic clutch pedal installed and I have no idea what's involved with it's installation...I'd rather fight a little extra putting the dash in with the windshield in place then try and work under the dash installing parts I have no idea what goes where.... :pullinghair:

oh ok alan, yeah i think it's an art for sure. mine is really close to being like yours just a couple spots need attention. i was a little nervous to use the heat gun, i was thinking if the weather ever turned hot i would put it out in the sun with everything closed up and see if that would tighten it up enough. also i think on here somewhere somebody used a steam machine to touch up some areas? anyway thanks Bruce
