There is a definite difference in the decklid and quarter end trim between '70 and '71-4, but I don't believe I've ever seen that for the back of hood & fender moldings.

TIA
Yes...I'm a little confused on that one too....Never heard of differences, but I've learned to keep my mouth shut... :blah: :smilielol:

Moving forward with the interior.....Maybe a little over-kill on the sound deadener, but I figured it would make a good vapour barrier as well :D After loading up the 1/4's with Krown rust proofing (as per customer's request) I was able to finish off the rear of the interior at least. The stereo guy will most likely have to pull the rear seat out again, but that's his job.... :worshippy

That white really looks sweet against the beautiful purple !

is that a homemade barrier between the back seat and the trunk?  If so, would you mind sharing how you made this, where you mounted it and materials used?

Wondered the same thing after I posted the pictures...I went out and pushed the lower rear corners of the top half into position better and the wrinkles went away....or at least it looks better... :drunk:

Would you be kind enough to post some pics of the different beltline/back of hood & fender moldings please?

This is '71 trim. I have my build sheet that came with the car. I just don't know which section to show you.
I have a complete set of 70 SE trim that I took off a car that I parted out in '83, it looks smooth like your pics.
Did that '71 come with that trim?

I'm going to keep my comments about the trim in your pictures to myself. :-X

But to answer your question: Yes the trim on my current project is original to the car, and to further that, the 71 Challenger I just sold also had it's original trim and it matched the set in my photos. :2cents:

Rob, The trim on your hood looks like it has been altered. I have never seen the trim open ended like yours. The ends of the trim should be closed. It looks like someone cut down a longer piece of trim so it would fit the Challenger hood. I have seen that step type trim on a 71 Charger and I think the Charger hood is a little wider than the Challenger hood. Just wondering.

Al, sorry about hijacking your thread. You are doing some great looking work on the purple car. Enjoy watching the build.

It came with the car so I put it back on. I had never seen a set like that on a 71 either. I did notice the angled ends were off though. I'll start looking at charger trim! If I notice the same trim, I might take it back off. I don't know the history of my car so anything could have been added. It came with a rear defroster grill, housing and hose assembly too and we all know a vert didn't have a rear deck. That's why I'm asking for trim pics on a 71. Still learning...
I don't want to install my SE trim on my convertible unless I find the long pieces for the rear quarters.

And I finished of both doors.

Alan, I'm having issues with fixing my door trim panel as there are only a couple of screws holding it on.  How did you mount the clips?  Thanks for all of your comments as this is a GREAT thread!
