Apparently Dot 5 is NOT recommended for the clutch....it actually voids the warranty. The Wilwood tech recommends Dot 3, so that's what's in there. I use Dot 5 on all my other restos...

The Hyd clutch systems are different , Keisler has the worst design possible , you fill the master & pump for a couple of days as there is no bleeder at the bottom slave cyl , so the air has to work its way back up through the pressure line , I usually pump it for a while & let it sit so the air can rise up the line . This can take days to accomplish . Why they would not have a bleeder screw with a line out to bleed it .
 McLeod is far better with a bleeder on the slave cylinder , it will bleed out in minutes , far better !

The unit we got from Keisler (glad they are gone) has a bleeder in the middle of the line, at the lowest point, pointing down. But when we bled the system per the directions it took about 10 minutes. Go figure.

I normally bench bleed my hydraulic system first than install ,but everyone does it differently.The keisler set up I have is the same ,point the bleeder down than you can bleed it easily. This video explains why alot of people have trouble getting the air out of the system.. Also I been using Wilwood products for a while now, I find if you use a hi quality ,Hi temp brake fluid (I use DOT 4 in mine) That it bleeds better and also performs better. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uj1dMdYgRK4     Good luck Alan  :bigsmile:

Thursday 08/07/14 2 hours === 106 hours Total

I bleed the brakes today and got a nice firm pedal (Wilwood products). I've got a decent clutch pedal now, but I want to bleed it again after it sits for awhile. Working by myself, it's hard to see what the throw-out bearing is doing when I depress the pedal. :banghead:
Worked on buttoning up a few small details today as well. Just about done.

The UPS man just dropped off the driveshaft this afternoon, exactly seven days since I call the order in....So tomorrow I should be able to get at it and the exhaust.

I think this is a true statement on all of our cars.

I couldn't agree more however when it comes to a "stock original" Cuda or Challenger.....I can do them in my sleep......I had no idea of how much longer it takes, and the hurdles you have to overcome when building a modified car :worshippy

Sorry if I missed this before (searched the thread and didn't see it) but what percentage of time saving would you say for a stock vs modified?

Car would have been done by now... :pullinghair:...

I would say an additional 20%-25% more time involved, and this car has very basic mods.

Just AWESOME! Thanks for posting so many great pics. I'm trying to put my 71 RT puzzle back together and I have identified 4 parts in you photos that I had no idea what the were or where they went. Every time I look through and read these resto pages it just keeps me motivated and on track. I'd be lost without all the help from everyone here and all these immeasurable helpful pages. Fantastic job so far and thanks.
