to gull or not to gull...
« on: May 08, 2014 - 04:21:03 PM »
hey all,
I am finishing up last details on body before paint, on a 71 340 cuda shaker coupe.
car body will be yellow color, black shaker, no road lamps, and painted grill /front bumper,
but I am trying to decide if I should add billboard vinyl's, and add a gull wing or not.

?did all 71 340 w shakers have spoilers if they had billboards, or did some have no spoiler but billboards, etc.?

I want to make it to my taste,
but if something was always true, I would like to keep it correct.

thank you.

:iagree:

If  it's got a shaker, it's gotta have a wing.  :2thumbs:

At least that's my taste and my :2cents:

I must be the minority here, but I've never liked the gull wing on a cuda. To me I like the way the rear haunches of the car stay high and give the car a muscular look compared to the Challenger that looks droopy in the rear. The gull wing belongs on a Challenger and not the Cuda. If you think the rear of the Cuda still needs something, go with the AAR wing.

Stripe Delete with Black Shaker & Black Wing :2thumbs:  :2cents:
Just try to find a Yellow 71 Cuda, Shaker, Rubber Bumper, Wing and stripe delete combo...
If you have or find one please post it.  :clapping:

so,
it sounds like originally, anything goes.
Some had wing, some not, with or without billboard, shaker, painted bumper etc. any combo went.
as far as a gull wing, I like it either way.
figured also with all the yellow the black billboard, shaker and wing would break up and off set color nicely.

?on that same not did all 71 340 shakers have billboards?
leaning towards billboards, and gull wing.
(but this just means replacing or modifying lid for 71 gull wing before paint.)

thanks

Well I have to agree . . . I really don't like the wings either.  The 71 cuda is the only one that looks OK with a wing.  Remember you will need the proper deck lid and then springs for the weight of the wing if you decide to go that route.

Wing it if you want to. Either way you can't ruin the look of the car.
You might want that added Aero as you approach 200 MPH...
