Drove the car around today and it's like 95 with 40% humidity (about as humid as it gets here) and the Vintage Air system does a nice job of keeping you cool.  I ended up putting tie wraps and safety wire around every duct hose to get them to stay on.  Now the only issue is the stock 42 year old vents flop around and won't stay in place so I had to put some tape on them to get them to stay pointed.

With the factory dash and the way the vents are sunk in to the dash you can't direct the vents to blow on to your face.  So instead all the air hits you in the upper chest which is fine.  Perhaps with the under dash vent setup you can actually get them to point up at your face.

I originally wanted the oem vents in the dash. But now that I have the non-air setup, I like it much better for exactly the reasons you state Travis72.
The under dash vents are very well placed and can be moved to hit you where ever you want.

I just got my ride up and running with a VA kit, and it works great.  Use zip ties to secure the ducts to the HVAC case and they won't come off.  It blows like ice and the volume of air is far greater than the factory setup.  The case is also much smaller.

I have an electric fan and a trinary switch, so it is wired up to send the A/C compressor relay signal ground through the trinary switch and then onto my Megasquirt.  The Megasquirt then turns on the A/C relay as needed and controls idle up functions with the IAC.

I did it that way to minimize the current going through the trinary switch and to avoid issues with stalls/RPM drops as the compressor cycles.

The new kits no longer use a heater valve with a relay, the valve is now a low current servo that no longer needs a dedicated relay.

Now you got me wondering about vents as well. I have a pontential customer with a factory A/C car that I was going to put a Vintage Air system in.....Now I'm wondering if I should use the under dash vents instead on the factory ones... :dunno:

Can you hook up both the factory vents and use the under dash vents, also?

There is only four holes coming out of the unit.  I can't see how you could hook up more than the four vent/defroster hoses.  There is barely enough room under the dash to get the hoses to fit much less add more hoses after they have been bifurcated.  I just don't see it working, but Im not saying it can't be done.

You can use the factory A/C dash with the vintage air system. The underdash vent unit is for non a/c.

Can you guys post some pics of the under dash vent system?
I might be entertaining A/C myself. The cost doesn't seem to bad for some cool air when you want it. It gets hot in Oklahoma... a lot  :stomp:

 CudamanTom,
Here is a pic of the Vintage Air under dash unit in my car. Personally, I think it looks a lot better there than in the dash.

Cheers!
